I blinked. The girl's words still hung in the air, sharp and brittle. My body went cold, as if the wind had turned to ice.
"What… what are you talking about?" I asked, though I already felt the answer looming like a shadow I hadn't seen until it stepped in front of me.
Around us, the training ground froze. No one sparred. No one breathed. Even the wind held its breath.
The girl scoffed, her mouth twisting like she'd expected my confusion. Her gaze swept over the others—Corin, Jules, Denise. Their silence was louder than anything she could've said.
"Tch. Of course no one's gonna tell you," she said with a bitter smile. "Too busy playing nice."
I swallowed thickly.
