Chapter 204 - Cracked Magic Game? Prodigal Son Star-Lord!

I am back

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Quill and Ego fought, on the other side, the Guardians, led by Mantis, were taking in the beautiful scenery of Ego's domain.

At first, the members of the Ravagers were highly cautious of Mantis. They hadn't come as guests—they were there to help Quill and take down Ego. In their eyes, Mantis was a subordinate of Ego, someone to be watched closely.

However, after a brief exchange, they realized that Mantis was just a naïve girl who didn't know much about the world. She was unaware of many basic things and often made awkward jokes. Her threat level was zero. They could even consider her an ally.

Soon after, they managed to convince Mantis to take them to a place that Ego had forbidden her from going. Once there, Yondu and his team followed, mixing in with them.

"Yondu, aren't you afraid of Ego? Aren't you coming with us?" someone asked.

"That was my plan, but Quill's one of the Marauders, and we have an obligation to help our friend," Yondu replied, using his friendship with Quill as an excuse to hide his deeper concerns. Behind him, Kraglin shrugged, well aware of Yondu's internal conflict, as were the rest of the Ravagers.

To be honest, they weren't happy with Yondu's choice. If someone with malicious intent had stood up to make trouble at that moment, some of them would have turned against Yondu. They followed him because of his strength and unwavering belief, and he led them to greatness. Yondu could get them to do anything they felt too afraid to do. He could make them rich. But now, Yondu had changed. However, after his rebellious act, they couldn't do anything but follow.

"I never thought I'd come back here..." Yondu muttered, gazing at the familiar cave in front of him. This was the place that had changed his life. When he was younger and reckless, he had defied the rules of the Ravagers and transported children for Ego, only for things to go wrong. He was cast out of the Ravagers and became an outcast.

Though Ego paid him handsomely, Yondu could never find peace. His selfish actions had led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of children. Their bodies now lay among a pile of bones.

"Do you know this place?" someone asked.

"Of course. This is the land of evil, the darkest place in the universe," Yondu replied, his voice heavy with regret. "My nightmare."

The group entered the valley, where they saw countless bones scattered across a massive pit. The bones appeared to be from minors, the same children Yondu had transported.

"Damn... you're saying all of these are his children? You actually transported them to him?" someone gasped.

They were horrified by what they saw, especially after hearing Yondu's description of Ego's cruelty.

"Is this what a normal person does? He killed all of his own children?" they murmured in shock. Describing Ego as a beast would be an insult to animals.

"He lied to me, hid the truth from me," Yondu muttered, clenching his fists. "He promised me he wouldn't hurt them. I took Quill far away from him, but now we must kill Ego—no matter the cost!"

Yondu's anger was palpable, but there was a deep sense of helplessness in his voice. Despite his fury, he knew they were up against a god, a being of unimaginable power. They were no match for him.

"By the way, where's Quill?" someone asked.

"Quill's with Ego. They're talking now, but we need to get over there fast. He might be in danger!" Yondu responded, his voice tightening with concern.

Just then, the ground began to tremble violently, as if a massive earthquake was shaking the very core of the planet. Energy tentacles erupted from the earth, tearing the air apart, spinning and twisting with immense force.

In the center of this chaos, Quill was desperately dodging the attacks, his flight skills clumsy but effective enough to keep him from being hit.

"Wait... is that Quill?" Rocket exclaimed, his sharp eyes recognizing Quill's distinctive figure. But now, Quill seemed different. He was wielding powers he hadn't before—he was no longer just awkwardly flying and wielding two short energy guns.

"Is that... magic?" Rocket exclaimed. "When did Quill learn so much magic?"

Quill was trying to counterattack while evading the energy tentacles. Occasionally, he unleashed bolts of lightning, breaking through the tentacles with ease.

The tentacles appeared flexible and powerful, but they were more about restraint than direct attack. If Quill had only activated his divine power, he'd never be able to escape their grasp. But with the power of the Magic Net, he was doing what once seemed impossible.

As Quill absorbed the planet's energy to convert into magical power, his abilities grew exponentially. The magic he wielded surpassed anything he'd ever been capable of before, allowing him to bypass traditional learning processes and directly tap into powerful spells.

It felt like a video game. The more Quill pressed the "skill" button, the more magic he unleashed, from Thunder to Fireball to Icebolt and beyond. It was exhilarating.

"Three Rings of Magic, Bossett's Thunder!" Quill shouted, casting powerful spells. "Second Ring Magic, Lightning Storm!"

The energy tentacles were torn apart, and Ego's hold on the planet weakened as Quill continued to drain its energy.

Meanwhile, Ego's frustration grew. The amount of energy he was losing was staggering. He had spent millennia gathering this power, and now it was being devoured by Quill in an almost reckless fashion. He was infuriated.

"This is the energy I've worked for thousands of years to accumulate!" Ego snarled, his face darkening with rage.

Ego opened his hand, trying to mobilize the planet's energy to cast a meteor shower that would strike Quill from all angles. He aimed to suffocate Quill and prevent him from continuing to drain his power.

But Quill wasn't so easily defeated. He had prepared for this. Using his magic, he shielded himself with a powerful five-ring energy shield and activated a mirror magic that created a safe space, isolated from the meteor shower.

While Quill couldn't yet analyze and respond to every magic trick in his arsenal, his connection to the Magic Net gave him more than enough to fight back. His spells were enough to keep him alive and evade Ego's attacks.

Quill's confidence grew as he realized he was gaining control over the situation. He wasn't just a man anymore; he was now empowered by magic and the energy of the planet.

With each skill cast, he felt like he was back in the days of gaming—his movements quick and decisive. The more he absorbed energy, the more powerful he became, using it all to tear down Ego's defenses.

Ego, on the other hand, was getting desperate. He had been so confident in his godly powers, but now Quill was turning the tide. He thought he was invincible, but now, it was clear that Quill was more than just a mortal.

"You're not Peter anymore... You're the God of Magic!" Ego muttered, eyes wide with disbelief.

"That's right," Quill said, a smirk playing on his lips. "And you've never seen anything like it."

As Ego raged, Quill took full advantage of the energy he had absorbed, relentlessly attacking his enemy.

Ego tried to use his regenerative powers, but Quill's magic was too strong. The battle had shifted, and it seemed that Ego's reign of terror was finally coming to an end.

"You'll regret this!" Ego shouted. "This is war!"

But Quill wasn't scared. He had his own army now—magic, energy, and a new purpose. He had no intention of letting Ego win.

And just when it seemed like Ego might make a final desperate move, a familiar voice echoed through the battlefield.

"Go to sleep."

Mantis had appeared behind Ego, and with her racial abilities, she put the god to sleep, temporarily rendering him powerless.

"We've got him now," Mantis said, exhausted. "I don't know how long I can keep him asleep, but you've got time to finish this."

With Ego incapacitated, Star-Lord could now focus entirely on draining his energy and making sure he would never be a threat again.

Ego's fate was sealed.
