General Runa stumbled back as blood soaked through her robes, the gaping wound in her stomach refusing to close.
Her breath came in uneven gasps, but her lips curled into a haughty grin. She gripped the hilt of Kyle's sword, yanked it out of her body, and tossed it aside like discarded junk.
"This? This is nothing. Wounds like these heal before the pain even registers."
She sneered, holding her bleeding side.
Runa closed her eyes and summoned her divine mana. Warm light surrounded her, and for a brief second, she smirked, confident that her god's blessing would erase all trace of Kyle's strike.
But nothing happened.
The light dimmed.
The wound remained, leaking blood steadily onto the broken battlefield.
Confusion marred her face. She tried again. And again. Still, the divine aura refused to mend the damage.
Her eyes snapped open, wide with shock, and she turned toward Kyle, her voice rising with fury.
