Lana
"What did you just say?" He stepped closer, staring at me like I had suddenly grown three demon heads.
"Queen of the Demons? HAVE YOU GONE MAD, LANA?!"
I took a half-step back. "I—I didn't ask for this! But he appointed me! After I stopped the blood war and saved everyone from destruction, he said… I was worthy to succeed his throne…"
"Worthy?!" Sylas barked. "Do you even know what it means to become the Demon Queen? You'd be living with demons for the rest of your life. A human—ruling demons?! Lana, you're smarter than this!"
"LET ME EXPLAIN!" I finally shouted.
Silence.
My breath came in short gasps. My heart pounded like a war drum.
Kaelith looked at me. His gaze wasn't as fierce as Sylas's. But somehow... that made it hurt more. So much more.
"You want to be their queen?" he asked at last. Not angry. Not accusatory. Just... wounded.
I bit my lip. "I don't know. But this... isn't just a title. It's an opportunity. To end the war forever. To build a world at peace."
