The sky overhead was a perfect blue, dotted with cotton clouds and dappled sunlight.
The wind carried the sugary scent of cotton candy and roasted popcorn, even if there was no crowd, the place still pulsed with a quiet charm.
Usually, Ella would have disliked the empty place but for some reason, the lack of a rush or crowd put her heart at ease in the moment. Ella relished in the rare peace of the moment.
As they passed a carousel, Ella tilted her head and glanced at Adrian.
"Baby, have you ever been to an amusement park before?" she asked, swinging their linked hands slightly.
Adrian's free hand trembled ever so slightly while his left hand remained firm in her hold, "No."
The smile on Ella's face stiffened. "Never? You have never been to an amusement park…" She trailed off, realizing that she probably touched the wrong nerve.
However, Adrian did not seem to mind it much. There was not a single change in his expression as he nodded.
Ella was stumped for words.
