POV: Amara Kings
Amara screamed as blue fire burst from her fingers, wild and hot. It shot across the area, hitting a tree and turning it to ash in seconds.
"Control it!" Rowan shouted, ducking to avoid the fire. "Feel the fire as part of you, not something separate!"
Easy for him to say. Amara closed her eyes and took a deep breath. The fire was inside her, always had been. It wasn't her enemy.
Slowly, the flames around her hands grew smaller until they were just blue sparks moving between her fingers.
"Better," Rowan said, standing up straight again. "Much better."
Amara let out a shaky breath. Three days of training, and this was the first time she'd managed to call her fire on purpose instead of by chance.
"How did my brother learn to control his black fire so fast?" she asked, thinking of Orion. The twin she never knew she had until a week ago.
"The Mother forced him to," Rowan answered, his face darkening. "Trust me, you don't want to learn that way."
