POV: Orion Kings
"Kill them all!" The words came out of Orion's mouth, but they weren't his. His arm pointed toward Elias's guards at the edge of the territory, and The Mother's troops rushed forward, howling for blood.
Stop! This isn't me! Orion screamed inside his head, but his body wouldn't listen. He was trapped, watching through his own eyes as the soldiers he apparently commanded tore into the defending wolves.
"Excellent," The Mother whispered from beside him. Her cold fingers brushed his cheek. "My perfect weapon."
Orion's stomach turned, but his face stayed blank. Not a flicker of feeling showed on the outside. The Mother's magic had turned him into a puppet, his mind awake but his body following her every order.
"You feel her nearby, don't you?" The Mother asked. "Your twin. Your other half."
He did feel her—Amara—like a warm spot in his chest that had been getting stronger for days. The twin link that had been almost dead for years was coming back to life.
