The suspected branch leader had already gotten far from the battle through a public carriage that he was lucky to find at late hours. His branch was located in the deepest part of the slums; the poorest side of the imperial capital. Now, he was heading there on foot after paying the coachman, who dropped him off somewhere at the entrance of the slums.
The slums was also the most dangerous side of the imperial capital where theft, murder, and all sorts of crimes and illegal activities were very active because of the high rate of poverty. The taxes in the imperial capital were quite high for commoners who had to work daily for their income. Some commoners could not handle the overwhelming stress and eventually were chased down to the slums.

The suspected branch leader almost tripped on a person sleeping on the cold ground. He glared hatefully at the old man in tattered rags before brutally kicking him aside.
