"How did she get your number?" Nikolas asked, trying his best not to sound so cold to Selene.
"We exchanged contacts when she came to see me. I never thought that she would actually call me," Selene said, her eyes now looking down at the phone as it rang.
Nikolas tightened his jaw. "Ignore it," he said, immediately turning his head to the window.
"Why would you say that?" Selene asked, sounding completely surprised.
"Because anything that comes out of that woman's mouth is a lie," he said, dragging his hand through his strands.
"Nikolas," Selene said, inching closer to him after the phone stopped ringing, "just because she lied to you once doesn't mean she is a liar," she said, reaching to touch his cheek.
Her soft hands grazing his skin immediately sent warmth through his veins.
Nikolas exhaled, trying hard to believe her. But Selene didn't even know that this was not the only thing she had lied about.
