To make a proud and powerful queen let out such a crazed, miserable scream…

It wasn't hard to imagine the torment Queen Medusa was enduring now—the agony she was going through.

Under the burning of the Heavenly Flame, the pain was no longer just physical; even her soul could not escape the fire's incineration. That kind of pain was something unimaginable to ordinary people.

Standing at a distance and staring fixedly at the scene, Xiao Yan's face had also turned slightly pale.

Medusa's ear-piercing shrieks left him deeply shaken.

The screams rang through the entire eastern part of the city. Countless Snake-People experts turned their eyes in this direction, falling to their knees, murmuring prayers under their breath.

From afar, they could only watch anxiously as the massive purple serpent writhed and struggled within the cyan flames.

But due to earlier orders, no one dared enter that zone.

Nor could they.

By this point, the Green Lotus Core Flame had been provoked into a state of utter frenzy. Anything that entered its domain without sufficient strength would be instantly incinerated into nothingness.

The evolution had already begun. At this point, no one could save Queen Medusa—only she could rely on her own strength to endure.

Time passed. The night deepened.

Heaven and earth were shrouded in darkness.

Only faint moonlight cascaded down.

At the heart of the island…

The once crystal-clear pool of Ice Spirit Cold Fountain had already dried up, leaving behind a pitch-black hollow.

The surrounding smooth stones had melted under the intense heat, forming molten lava.

The flourishing bamboo grove nearby had turned to ash. As the breeze swept past, it carried the remains away, leveling the entire grove.

"What terrifying destructive power!" Xiao Yan, now covered in a thin film of purple Dou Qi, slowly backed away to the island's edge and came to stand beside Wei Yang.

Feeling the increasingly scorching air, he couldn't help but sigh in awe.

Wei Yang stood with his hands behind his back and gave him a sidelong glance. "Now you understand the terror of a Heavenly Flame? And you still didn't want to weaken it before?

Even someone as strong as Medusa has been tormented to this extent—and a full pool of Ice Spirit Cold Fountain couldn't withstand it either. What makes you think you could last longer?"

"Uh…" Xiao Yan rubbed his nose, giving a sheepish and bitter smile.

He had to admit, his earlier self had truly been reckless in his ignorance.

Even a peak Dou Huang like Medusa had been reduced to such a state. What chance did he, a mere Two-star Dou Shi, have?

Xiao Yan's gaze turned to the scorched center of the island. His expression grew complicated as he murmured, "Brother Wei, do you think… she'll make it through this?"

Wei Yang neither affirmed nor denied. "Who knows. Maybe. She's been rather lucky lately, after all."

"Yeah… Right now, luck may be the only thing she can rely on." Xiao Yan sighed, slowly clenching his fists. His fingernails dug deep into his palms as he spoke with a tinge of helplessness: "It all depends on whether she can grasp that sliver of hope…"

Green flames blazed fiercely, lighting up half the night sky.

Medusa's screams gradually weakened, fading from shrill and intense to faint and distant.

Perhaps her strength had been completely drained—her massive body, already shrunken considerably, had nearly stopped writhing.

She curled up where she lay, occasionally twitching.

The once-beautiful body covered in shimmering purple scales was now entirely scorched. The once ten-zhang-long body had been burned down to just a little over three zhang.

Outside the restricted zone, countless Snake-People experts lay prostrate, staring blankly at the endlessly churning flames.

To them, every second of this night felt agonizingly long.

Finally, at a certain moment, a mournful screech echoed across the entire city.

A wave of sorrow spread throughout the Holy City of the Snake-People.

Within the cyan flames, Medusa's body no longer moved at all. She lay silently as the Green Lotus Core Flame continued to burn her, turning her form to charcoal.

A faint, acrid smell of scorched flesh slowly spread, drifting into the night sky.

"…She failed." Xiao Yan fell silent for a moment, then let out a soft, inexplicable sigh.

Wei Yang, too, remained silent, his face expressionless.

The entire city gradually fell into a deathly silence following the fading of Queen Medusa's final scream.

Moments later, countless eyes filled with hatred turned toward the two figures standing at the edge of the island—Wei Yang and Xiao Yan.

If looks could kill, the two of them would've been reduced to ashes long ago.

"Go retrieve the Green Lotus Core Flame. It's time for us to leave," Wei Yang said softly.

"Okay." Feeling a chill down his spine under all those hostile stares, Xiao Yan quickly nodded. He took out the Green Lotus Platform from his storage ring and hurried toward the center of the island.

With Medusa's fall, the Green Lotus Core Flame had also begun to calm down.

The vast sea of green flames slowly began to retract.

Eventually, it condensed into a palm-sized ball of fire, floating in mid-air, quietly burning.

From time to time, it would transform into the shape of a green lotus, or into a tiny green fire serpent that slithered slowly through the air.

After venting its fury, the Green Lotus Core Flame's power had clearly weakened. Xiao Yan retrieved it into the lotus platform and quickly returned to Wei Yang's side, holding the platform with both hands.

Wei Yang glanced at the now-calm Green Lotus Core Flame. With a wave of his hand, a series of intricate seals formed and wrapped around the platform, suppressing the Heavenly Flame's aura from leaking out.

Xiao Yan then quickly stored the Green Colored Lotus Platform back into his ring, finally letting out a long sigh of relief.

As long as the Heavenly Flame was successfully retrieved, there wasn't much to worry about. Even if the snake-people turned hostile, they could just flee.

Ignoring the many eyes still glaring at them with hatred, Wei Yang turned his gaze toward the scorched remains at the center of the island.

His brows furrowed slightly. Medusa… did she really perish just like that?

That can't be right…

"Brother Wei, let's stop staring. We should probably leave this place while we still can," Xiao Yan whispered as a reminder.

Wei Yang didn't respond. Instead, he suddenly looked up, eyes fixed on the sky, which had abruptly turned overcast and oppressive.

"What is it?" Xiao Yan also looked up, curious.

A faint, mysterious smile curled at Wei Yang's lips. He said quietly, "Something's off."

"The energy of heaven and earth… has suddenly started to riot," Yao Lao's grave voice echoed in their minds.

The strange behavior of the two quickly drew the attention of many of the snake-people powerhouses. One by one, they raised their heads and looked to the sky.

And then, their expressions began to shift.

The once-clear night sky had turned darker and more oppressive. At some unknown point, thick leaden clouds had gathered, rolling and surging as they slowly blanketed the heavens above.

The sudden change left everyone staring in astonishment at the strange phenomenon above, their faces full of shock and confusion.

Boom!

Thunder roared within the clouds. Silver lightning bolts snaked chaotically through them like serpents made of light.

"What… what's going on?" Feeling the terrifying energy contained within those clouds, Xiao Yan couldn't help but swallow hard, his voice dry and tense.

Staring up at the storm clouds, Wei Yang spoke softly, "I once read an ancient record. It said that in ancient times, whenever a legendary or high-bloodline magic beast was born or evolved, the immense energy imbalance within its body could trigger a heavenly phenomenon."

"And right now, in this city… the only one capable of triggering something like this would be—" He turned his gaze back toward the scorched remains at the island's center.

"Medusa!" Xiao Yan's pupils contracted. He stared at the charred remains in disbelief. "Could it be… she actually succeeded in her evolution?!"

"What do you think, senior?" Wei Yang asked with a smile.

"Hmm… looks like she really did. To be able to trigger a phenomenon like this, that Medusa… she actually made it. What a lucky girl…" Yao Lao's voice sounded quietly in their ears, tinged with emotion.

Xiao Yan clicked his tongue in awe, but his eyes gradually brightened.

He hadn't expected it—she had really managed to cling to that final thread of hope. Under the burning of the Heavenly Flame… she had been reborn through nirvana?
