"Enough about that troublesome boy," Grandpa Luther set down his teacup with a sigh, his gaze drifting toward Carrie Ann, who was happily steering a remote-controlled car nearby.
"Camilla," he called out, his aged yet profound eyes brimming with affectionate warmth.
"Don't you think Carrie Ann is absolutely adorable?"
Camilla followed his line of sight and nodded, her smile genuine.
"Absolutely precious."
A knowing smirk tugged at Uncle Carlos's lips.
The Ms. Camilla clearly hadn't caught the underlying motive in grandpa's words.
Sensing their attention, Carrie Ann turned her head and beamed at them, her sweet grin lighting up the room.
"With this little one around, even this old house feels livelier," Grandpa Luther mused, exhaling deeply. "What a shame she's not really ours.
We'll have to give her back when her family comes looking," he sighed, pushing the peanuts and candied dates toward Camilla before taking a sip of tea.
