Drask stood still for a moment, eyes locked on Zain.
"You always show up at the worst time," he growled.
Zain didn't respond. His crimson eyes watched Drask's every move.
"You ruined everything," Drask snarled, taking a slow step forward.
"The lab. The mutants. My plans."
Zain stayed silent.
"You took the doctor," Drask hissed.
"And now you come here like it's nothing. Just walking into my last stronghold."
His claws clenched tighter. The dark markings on his arms pulsed.
"I'm going to kill you, Zain. Right here."
Zain tilted his head slightly. "That's what the last one said."
Drask pulled out a small silver tube from his belt.
Zain's eyes narrowed. "Is that—"
"A new version," Drask said.
He jabbed the needle into his neck and pressed the injector.
Zain didn't move. He just watched.
Drask's body jerked back. His mouth opened, fangs lengthening.
Black veins bulged through his arms and neck. His muscles swelled.
