The alarm rings and Jae-hoon opens his eyes. He shuts off the alarm and looks at the time on his phone and sees that it's already 7am. He then slowly gets out of the bed and takes a shower. After taking a quick shower, brushing his teeth and other essential hygiene stuff, he goes to his closet to see what clothes he would wear for the date.
While searching for the clothes he wants to wear, he thinks about last night and remembers something about the invitation "Wait…. I forgot to tell her where to meet! Shit! I screwed up big!" he says, panicking.
Before he could finish looking through his closet, he immediately grabs his phone and opens the chats with Hana. Before he could type anything, Hana already sent a message to him about 20 minutes ago about where to meet. The message reads, "Meet me at the subway at the campus back gate. We're going to Time Square at 12. I'll be waiting." After that message she sent a sticker of a panda in a sitting position like it's waiting.
Jae-hoon can't help but chuckle a little bit. He then sends, "Sorry for the late reply. I woke up a bit late today. Sure. I'll dress myself up and go to the subway at the back gate. That was like 12 minutes away from the dorms, right?"
Immediately after he sent the message, Hana immediately replied with several separate chat boxes, "Take your time dressing up. Yes, it does take 12 minutes just to get here from the dorms. It just so happens that the girls' dorms are close to it. Make sure you're here by 12. If you're not here, I will cancel this. Also, wear something casual but stylish. I'm wearing that sort of clothes right now."
Jae-hoon reads the message and then he replies with, "Yeah. I will be there. And I will wear casual but stylish clothes. If that's possible for me."
After sending the message, he continues looking through his closet for the clothes. After looking for a while, he found the clothes he would wear. After wearing the clothes, he checks himself out in the mirror. While checking himself, he says, "That's pretty decent, really. I haven't worn this in a while but it still fits. I think the last time was that time when I'm still a freshman and went to that freshman party." While looking more through his closet, he found the old military uniform back when he enlisted in the military for 18 months. He suddenly remembers, "What a time…. I remembered almost failing. Thank goodness I didn't fail. But it was hell for me, though. Also, I took it before I enrolled in the university. Now I don't need to think of enlistment anymore. I shouldn't be standing here remembering old memories. Hana is waiting for me," he finishes before closing the closet.
Jae-hoon then grabs his phone and wallet and goes to the front door. He sits down and puts on his shoes. After putting on his shoes, Jae-hoon leaves the dorm and heads for the subway at the campus back gate where Hana is waiting.
He walks to the subway exit and arrives after around 12 minutes or so. When he arrives, he sees that Hana is wearing something casual but it looks beautiful. In his mind he thinks, "Pretty…. She looks prettier than usual…."
When she sees Jae-hoon, she waves at him and calls out for him, "Jae-hoon! Over here!"
Jae-hoon snaps back to reality and he replies while walking to her, "Coming!"
He arrives in front of her. Hana seems calm before turning facing the other way. Jae-hoon is confused. He asks her, "Are you okay, Hana?"
"N-no…. I-I'm fine…," she mutters, avoiding his eyes. From the other side, her face is beet red because she's blushing. In her mind, she thinks, "Why does he look so good in those casual clothes?! Oh my god! He looks too good!" She then snaps back to reality and turns to face Jae-hoon, her face still a bit red.
Jae-hoon notices the slight redness on her face and asks, "Are you sick, Hana? Your face is slightly red…."
"N-no! I-I'm totally fine! I-I'm not sick! It's just…. You're looking handsome today…." she says nervously. She mumbles the last part so Jae-hoon doesn't hear her.
Jae-hoon just takes her words. Jae-hoon looks calm but in reality, he's trying not to get overwhelmed by his own feelings. In his mind, he thinks, "Damn it! I can't control my emotions. She's so pretty!"
"I'm totally head over heels over for him!" Hana thinks in his mind.
"I'm totally head over heels for her!" Jae-hoon thinks in his mind.
Without both of them knowing, their brains just aligned and thought of the same thing.
Jae-hoon clears his throat before saying, "Let's just go right now. We need to take a ride to the main station first."
"Y-yeah. L-Let's go," she replies.
They then take a taxi to the main station which is around 5 minutes. When they reach the station, they buy the train tickets to Yeongdeungpo station. When the subway arrives, they hop on the subway and find a seat to sit down on. When they found a seat, they immediately sat down.
While on the subway, Hana falls asleep and leans her head on Jae-hoon's shoulder. Jae-hoon, who notices this, hesitates to wake her up and just let her rest. After changing subways several times and walking for a bit, they reach Times Square after 27 minutes.
Hana looks excited when she sees the big mall. She then says happily, "Wow! It's been a while since I'm here!"
Jae-hoon can't help but smile at her reaction. "You look like a child," he teases her.
She turns around to face him. "Hey! You're the one who invited me! It's not my fault that it's been a while since I last came here! Hmph!" she complains, clearly slightly annoyed.
"Okay. Okay. I'm sorry. I don't want to hold you back. Let's go," Jae-hoon says, walking behind her as they enter the mall.
For almost two hours, they're just walking around the mall checking different stores. While at it, Jae-hoon bought some books to read from the bookstore to read back at his dorm later. Hana, on the other hand, bought a lot of stuff ranging from clothes, books, make-ups, etc.
"Hana. Let's go watch a movie. There's this new horror movie they're showing. I want to watch it," Jae-hoon says, calling out to her for the movie.
When Hana heard the word 'horror', she flinched a little bit before turning to look at Jae-hoon. "A h-horror movie? You want to watch a horror movie?" she asks, a bit nervous.
"What's wrong? Are you scared of horror movies?" Jae-hoon asks Hana.
"W-what?! Me?! Scared of horror movies? What a joke! Hah!" she says, trying to act tough.
"I'll take you at your word. Let's go, Hana," he says, asking Hana to go to the cinema with him to watch a horror movie.
"Wait for me, Jae-hoon!" she calls out to Jae-hoon as he walks to the cinema.
When they arrive at the cinema, they look through the ticket machine to pick a movie. After searching through the horror catalog, Jae-hoon finally picked a movie with the horror rating of 'Nightmare'.
"A-are you sure about this, Jae-hoon…?" she asks nervously.
"Yeah. Let's go with this movie," Jae-hoon says calmly, like nothing is a problem for him.
"I'm scared! Why did Jae-hoon pick a horror movie with the highest intensity ranking?! I'm going to die!" she thinks in her mind, panicking but not showing it on her face.
After Jae-hoon bought the tickets, he went to the food station to buy some popcorn. While he's at the food station, Hana is sitting on a nearby bench thinking of her decision to follow him here and lying that she can handle horror movies.
After a while, Jae-hoon comes back with the popcorn and drinks. When he sees that Hana seems to be spacing out, he holds a soda on her cheeks and she flinches.
"You startled me!" she says, slightly annoyed. "Don't ever do that again, Jae-hoon!"
"I won't. I did that because you look like you're spacing out," he explains. Then he asks, "Are you okay?"
"I'm totally fine…. Thank you…" she says, pouting.
"Come on. It's just a little prank. Don't get pouty because of it," Jae-hoon says, telling her to not be pouty.
"You better treat me to some good meals after this, Jae-hoon," she says with a pouty face.
"Fine. Fine. I'll do just that," he says, telling her he will treat her after the movie ends.
After she hears him say that, she immediately perks up and goes back to her usual mood. In Jae-hoon's mind, he can only think of her as a baby.
"Hana as a baby, huh? That seems cute," he thinks in his mind. "What am I even thinking right now?!"
After a while, the movie is about to start and they head to hall 3 where the movie they will watch is being screened at. When they reach hall 3, they find their seats at the very back row since it's the best view of the screen up there. They settled themselves in and waited for the movie to start.
After the movie starts, Hana immediately covers up her face with her hands because she's scared. Meanwhile Jae-hoon is enjoying his popcorn like the movie was nothing for him. When the movie reaches a specific scene where there is a big jump scare, Hana is scared of it; she almost stands up and walks out. She turns to look at Jae-hoon who has his usual expressionless face.
"He's really not scared of that? What is he? A superhuman?" she thinks about it in her mind. "Wait…. He said yesterday he was doing a job in a dungeon…. Does that mean…. Jae-hoon is an Irregular Hunter now?! I should ask him about it later."
After the movie ends, they walk out of the movie hall and Hana looks really pale because she got scared so much. Jae-hoon sees this and tries to check if she's fine or not.
"Are you fine, Hana? You look pale as heck…" he says, concerned.
"I'm never watching a horror movie again…" she says, looking traumatized and pale.
"As promised, let's go somewhere to eat. What do you want to eat?" Jae-hoon says, clearly feeling guilty.
"A cafe sounds perfect right now," she says, sounding better than before.
They walk around in Times Square to find a good cafe. When they found one, they went in and sat themselves on a table for two. The waitress then came to take their orders.
"Welcome! What would you like to eat or drink for today?" the waitress asks.
"I would like a strawberry cake, cheesecake and bubble milk tea, please!" Hana says, ordering the food she wants.
"Okay!" she says before turning to Jae-hoon. "What would you like, sir?"
"I'll go with the iced sweet lemon tea. That's it," Jae-hoon orders.
"Okay! Your food will be here soon. Enjoy the stay!" the waitress says before leaving.
Hana is staring at Jae-hoon like she's observing something. Before Jae-hoon can even speak, she says, "Is that okay, Jae-hoon? Just a drink? No food?"
"It's fine, really. I'm not really a fan of sweet stuff," he answers her.
"You're really left out, Jae-hoon," she says, teasing him.
"It's fine. I'm more of a spice kind of guy," he says, telling her that he's more of a spicy kind of guy.
"By the way, I have a question for you. Did you become an Irregular Hunter? You talked about it on the phone yesterday," she says, asking him about the phone call yesterday.
"I did. It's been a while but I just kept it a secret. You're the first one to know about this," he says.
"I feel special~" she says in a joking tone with a teasing face that looks really cute on her.
Jae-hoon just chuckles because she's too cute when she makes that face.
"Should I confess now? Urgh! I'm stuck contemplating whether to confess or not! I can't think straight! Let's just confess right now!" she thinks in her mind, contemplating whether to confess or not.
Before she could speak, the waitress returned with the food they ordered. "Enjoy the meal!" she says before leaving.
Hana looks at the food and her eyes seem to lights up when she sees the strawberry cake and cheesecake. She hesitates to eat because she wants to confess to Jae-hoon first. "Umm…. Jae-hoon…. I have something to tell you and it might sound weird…. So…. Will you be willing to listen to me?" she says with a slightly hushed tone.
Jae-hoon looks up at her before saying and sipping his drink, "Sure. What is it?"
Hana hesitates for a short time before getting her courage up. "I…. I like you, Jae-hoon. A lot. Will you be my boyfriend?" she finally confessed to him.
Jae-hoon took a sip-then choked, spraying tea across the table and coughs a lot afterwards.
"Are you okay, Jae-hoon?! Do you need help?!" Hana says, looking worried.
"No. No. I'm fine. I'm fine. It's just…. I'm surprised," he says while still slightly coughing up.
"I see…. I know it sounds weird. You don't need to accept it if you don't want to…." she says, sounding a little bit disappointed.
"To be true with you, Hana…. I also like you,", he says, confessing his feelings for her.
"Wait. Seriously? You do?" she asks.
"Yeah and you don't need to call me by my full first name. Just call me Jae," he answers. He also told her to call him by his nickname.
"I will call you that. Matter of fact, I'll call you Jaejae just to make it sounds cute," she says, teasing him.
"Whatever you want to call me then," he says, smiling slightly.
"Thank you, Jaejae," she says, teasing him with the nickname.
"Your welcome," he says.
Hana starts eating the food happily. Before she finish the strawberry cake, Jae-hoon asks, "So…. Are we a couple now?"
"Yesh! Dehmf'nuh'ly! (Yes! Definitely!)" she says with her mouth still full of the strawberry cake.
"Alright then," he says, continuing to sip his tea.
After a while, they finish their food and drinks and goes to the counter to pay. "I guess you guys want to pay" the cashier says with a smiles on his face. "Your order is one strawberry cake, one cheesecake, one bubble milk tea and one iced sweet lemon tea, correct? That would be 40,800 won."
"Yeah. Sounds about right," Jae-hoon says. Before he could give the cashier his card to pay, Hana hands over her card instead.
"You paid for the movie. Let me repay it by paying for the food and drinks," she says.
The cashier scans her card and gives the card back to Hana. "Thank you for stopping by!" he says.
"Is it fine, Hana? It's really expensive, though…" Jae-hoon says, clearly feeling guilty for letting her pay.
"It's fine. I have plenty of money left from my monthly allowance," she says, reassuring him.
"If you say so. I'll pay you back later, though," Jae-hoon says, telling her he would pay her back later.
"I would like to see that, Jaejae," she says.
After that, they leave and ties back to the dorm. After a while, they finally arrive back at the campus entrance and separate ways. Before departing, they talk for a while.
"Guess we'll see each other again later, Jaejae," Hana says, looking slightly disappointed.
"I guess so. See you on Monday, I guess," Jae-hoon says
Before departing, Hana walks up to Jae-hoon and kiss his cheek. This surprised Jae-hoon and makes him speechless. "S-see you on Monday, Jae…" she say, looking embarrassed.
"Yeah…" Jae-hoon replies.
Hana then turns around and walk to the girls dorms. Jae-hoon turns around and goes back to his dorm. When he finally arrive in his dorm room, he slumps down on the bed.
"Hah…. The date is really tiring…. But it's worth it. Good job, Jae-hoon," he talks to himself. "I should go to sleep."
He then stands up to take off his clothes first before turning off the lights and going to sleep.
