On a bright, pleasant morning, the sun shone through the window into my room. I woke up early.
Some days had passed since the day my older brother attacked me.
I stood up slowly, made my bed, then went to wash my face and brush my teeth.
After that, I did some stretching.
I've been thinking a lot lately—maybe getting a magic teacher isn't the right choice. I should learn human magic by myself. I'm more than capable of doing that. It shouldn't be that difficult… I'm sure.
Yesterday, I was in the castle library and took some books—all about human magic and how to learn it. The books are written in such a simple way that even children can understand them.
Thankfully, I'm a fast learner.
Also, some of Kagen's memories are starting to return. Only in flashes—not full memories.
But I'm sure that eventually, I'll get them all.
And... my demonic power has stopped coming back. I can't absorb any more of it.
So, for now, I have to focus on making this body stronger.
I took the first book and started reading—and kept reading for hours. I only took short breaks to eat or use the bathroom, then went straight back to reading again.
So… after a lot of reading, I found that human magic has changed quite a bit compared to what it used to be.
Now, people basically know from the day they're born whether they'll be strong or not. Every newborn goes through a power scan, and their strength is determined right away.
The best ones get a 4-star rating, while the weakest get just 1 star, with an alphabet-based ranking.
That means there are ranks A, B, C, and D. Each rank has four stars. So a D1 is weaker than a D2, and so on. A higher letter and more stars mean more power—and the opposite means weakness.
To get scanned and find out what rank I belong to, it has to be done by a professional.
But I don't need a human to do that when I have Ichoru.
I'll wait for him to use his telepathy and ask him myself.
He's the most loyal demon I've ever had.
He does exactly what I ask—no questions.

Knock knock
I walked over and opened the door.
"H-hi Kagen, how are you?" she said with a face full of energy and life.
It was Seraphina.
"Hello, sister. I'm fine."
"That's it? Y-you're not gonna ask how I'm doing?
Eh, Kagen, why are you so emotionless lately?"
She fidgeted with her fingers.
This sister is starting to annoy me.
"Listen, Seraphina, I told you before—I'm just tired lately, that's all."
"Hmm, okay, I guess. I just wanted to tell you that we're having dinner tonight in the big hall. All the royals will be there, so you should come too!"
All the royals, she said...
"Just one question, Seraphina. Will Grandpa and Grandmother be there too?"
"Y-yes, of course! So... so, are you coming or not?"
She looked at me with a questioning face, waiting for my answer.
"All right. I'll be there."
"Y-yay! Just don't be late!"
She left and closed the door behind her.

Finally, I'll meet the king and queen.
I wonder what they'll be like...
