Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Interlude (1)

[A/N: Sorry Guys, I have been suffering from an illness and it has made it difficult to write. I would try to make up with more chapters in the next few days. Thankyou for your support]

Danzo Shimura sat in the dimly lit depths of his Root hideout, the flickering torchlight casting shadows across his stern face. His hands—still whole, no Sharingan or bandages yet—rested on a wooden table cluttered with scrolls and maps. His eyes narrowed as his mind churned, fixated on one thing: Kenta Madoka and that space time ability of his.

The boy's clap-and-swap stunt at the Senju compound had left Danzo rattled, and for a man who thrived on control, that was unacceptable.

'That brat… shifting me into the path of Kushina's chains with a single clap,' he thought, his fingers drumming the table.

'One moment I'm on a rooftop, watching the battle, the next I'm staring down death—helpless, clueless, like a fool in a child's game!' He shuddered, paranoia creeping in.

'What if he'd swapped me into a pit of snakes? Or a bathhouse full of gossipy grannies? No warning, no counter—just clap, and I'm doomed!' His lips twitched into a grimace horrified.

'I'd be the laughingstock of Konoha—'Danzo, undone by a noble toddler!'—and that's if I survive the embarrassment!'

He leaned back, forcing calm. 'Priority one: dissect this nonsense Kekkei Genkai of the kid. How strong is it? What are its limits? Strengths? Weaknesses? I need to know—now.' His mind raced with possibilities.

'Battlefield control—swap an enemy general with a foot soldier, and the chain of command collapses. Assassinations? Clap, swap with the target's guard, slit a throat—done. How many can he switch? One? Ten? An army?' He chuckled darkly, imagining Kenta under his command.

'Picture it: clap—enemy squad's in disarray—clap—our troops teleport behind their lines—clap—I'm stuck in a latrine somewhere, screaming! No, no—focus, Danzo!' [A/N: This is Danzo's inner Danzo. Just like inner Sakura. I am trying to give Danzo a little extra character on top of his schemes and evilness.]

The memory of his helplessness gnawed at him though. 'I didn't even see it coming—no hand signs, no fuinjutsu, just that clap. How do I escape it? Counter it?' He rubbed his chin, paranoia spiking again.

He shook his head, refocusing.

'Later, I'll acquire the boy—mold him for Root, harness that kekkei genkai for Konoha's glory. But first, countermeasures. Step one: learn everything about it.'

Danzo straightened, his voice cutting through the silence. "Agents!" Four Root operatives materialized from the shadows, kneeling before him—masked faces, blank stares, perfect obedience. "Listen carefully," he began, his tone measured but edged with urgency. "Kenta Madoka's kekkei genkai—is a threat we must understand. I'm ordering an operation. When the boy's a little farther from the village—say, training in the outskirts—strike. Deploy five of our trainees, genin-level, and three chūnin members. Test him—push him to use that technique."

A Root agent tilted his head slightly. "Engage directly, Lord Danzo?"

"Yes," Danzo replied, "but no killing—wound if you must, but he lives. He's too valuable to lose, and Mito Uzumaki's wrath would bury us—Hiruzen's too, the soft fool. Two jōnin will distract the ANBU tailing him—keep them busy, non-lethal. Another jōnin will observe from a distance, hidden, and report every detail: how he swaps, range, limits, reactions. I want specifics—can he swap mid-jutsu? With objects? Multiple targets? Go!"

The agents nodded, but Danzo held up a hand, shifting gears. "Next topic—Suna. Reports say they're mobilizing forces, prepping for war. Their poison mastery's a thorn in our side—those formulas, antidotes, even raw samples could tip the scales." His eye gleamed with calculation. "Order our spies to infiltrate Suna's ranks—steal their poison recipes, antidote blueprints, or the toxins themselves. Whatever they snag, bring it back. Tsunade Senju's medical genius could reverse-engineer antidotes—or brew our own poisons. When war breaks, Suna's tricks won't touch us—we'll turn their venom on them."

He leaned forward, voice low.

'Suna thinks they're clever—scorpions in the sand, stinging from afar. But with their secrets in our hands, we'll be the vipers—silent, lethal, untouchable.' He waved a hand. "Move swiftly—time's short. Report progress weekly."

The Root agents bowed, absorbing the orders, but Danzo wasn't done. His final topic loomed, a dark glint flashing in his eyes.

He steepled his fingers, voice dropping to a chilling murmur. "Last matter: Kagami Uchiha. He's tied up with Iwa now, leading squads on the border—no one watching his back. The pesky Uchiha clan head's been a thorn too long—too loyal to Hiruzen, too soft on peace." His lips curled into a smirk. "Time to prune that branch."

The agents stiffened, awaiting the command. Danzo's tone turned icy. "Eliminate him—clean, quiet, no traces back to Root. Stage it as an Iwa ambush—stray kunai, a slit throat, whatever works. He's distracted, vulnerable—strike now, before he returns. The Uchiha will mourn, but they'll point fingers at stone, not us." His eye glinted darker, thoughts swirling.

'Kagami's a fool—trusts too much, sees too little. Without him, the Uchiha would falter—Hiruzen loses an ally, and I gain room to maneuver. One less do-gooder clogging my vision for Konoha.'

'The Uchiha clan's power needs to be reduced. Their political power is at an all time high. With Kagami's death, they would throw their lives to Iwa. This would reduce both the power of Iwa and the Uchiha.' Danzo thought and then he remembered to give the final order to his men.

He stood, cane tapping the floor, finality in his voice. "Take Kagami's sharingan after you kill him. Execute these orders—Kenta's test, Suna's secrets, Kagami's end. Fail me, and you'll wish Mito got to you first. Go!" The Root agents bowed low, masks gleaming in the torchlight, then vanished into the shadows like wraiths, off to sow their Lord's orders.

'Kagami sharingan is the best one among all the Uchiha currently. It might have the potential to develop into a Mangekyō Sharingan. The legendary eye that Uchiha Madara weilded. All this power would soon be mine.' Danzo had a frown on his face even when he was thinking about the fulfillment of his plans.
