"Why? What is it you need her for?" arms crossed, Edna seemed particularly ticked.
"I am afraid that is way above your paygrade, my darling," Reubon did not miss the opportunity to taunt her.
In reply, Edna stared the man from head to toe then exhaled loudly, "Dear God! Why is it always the dullest tools in the shed that are the luckiest?" she shook her head slowly.
"Beg your pardon?" Reubon's hands tightly clenched around the arms of his chair.
"Yo heard me," she pressed, "There is no pay at stake here, in case you've missed it, and we are sitting around the same table so please, get off your high horse for a moment, you might see or even say something worthwhile," the maid snarled.
"That is enough!" Lord Dragomir cut their little quarrel short, "We do not have all night,"
Unlike Reubon's, Edna was more responsive to Dragomir's voice. She immediately simmered down and straightened her stance, but not without throwing extra scowls at Reubon for good measure.
