Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Profession Panel, Transfer to Mechanic

"This is..."

Su Yu held his breath, his eyes filled with undisguised astonishment!

[Profession System has been bound]

[Profession Panel has been unlocked]

[Reading host's current ability values for assessment, assessment complete...]

As the final message appeared.

The virtual screen in front of Su Yu flickered as if refreshing, and then three new entries appeared.

[Skills currently mastered by the host]

[Level 1 Basic Martial Arts: Eligible for Foundation Profession, Fighter]

[Level 3 Basic Gun Mastery: Eligible for Foundation Profession, Gunsmith]

[Level 4 Basic Mechanical Repair: Eligible for Foundation Profession, Mechanic]

[Please select the profession you are prepared to pursue]

"Is this... my golden finger?"

Su Yu took a deep breath, staring intently at the profession panel before him, his thoughts racing.

"What is the main function of the system, and what impact does selecting a profession have?"

"Ding! The function of this system is to assist the host in enhancing skills related to the chosen profession and ultimately achieving the highest career accomplishment. Once employed, the host can acquire the corresponding profession's experience points from daily work and life, improving both professional and skill levels."

"By enhancing skill levels, the host can achieve greater work efficiency. By increasing professional levels, the host can unlock core skills corresponding to the profession and higher-tier job transition permissions. Additionally..."

"Furthermore, upon reaching the full level in a basic profession, and meeting certain conditions, one can transition to a First-tier profession."

"For example: Mechanic (Main) + Gunsmith + Unknown Condition = First-tier profession, Battlefield Mechanic."

...

Su Yu's pupils constricted instantly.

A line of small text continued to appear on the virtual screen.

"Every time a professional level is enhanced, the host's physical constitution will receive varying degrees of amplification, the effect of which depends on the type of profession upgraded!"

Physical enhancement!

With this point alone, Su Yu had no further hesitation.

His gaze quickly settled on the three career options available to him.

Fighter, needless to say, once pursued, with each upgrade, the improvement in physical attributes, especially disease resistance, would be the largest. It would be the most effective against his current radiation sickness problem.

As for Gunsmith, once pursued, it should provide some bonus damage in firearms application. Like Fighter, it is considered a combat profession.

Even if the physical amplification was slightly less than Fighter, it should not be much worse.

On the other hand, the Mechanic.

The corresponding skills are all mechanical repairs, clearly an auxiliary profession.

The physical enhancements from career upgrades would not be significant.

However, after a brief consideration, Su Yu decisively chose Mechanic.

The reason was simple.

With Fighter and Gunsmith, he could not gain much experience from daily life.

Certainly,

he could choose to join an expedition team or hunting squad.

But with his current strength, a sickly body, engaging in such high-risk activities where every expedition or hunt could result in casualties,

Su Yu felt that before he could enhance his professional level and use a strong physique to overcome radiation sickness, he would already perish at the hands of Radiation Beasts or rogue elements outside.

Conversely, as a Mechanic, an auxiliary profession, although physical enhancement might not be as much as the previous two, it was safe and stable.

There were also more channels to acquire experience!

Moreover, compared to Gunsmith and Fighter, Su Yu preferred Mechanic as his first Foundation Profession!

Nevertheless, Su Yu remained cautious.

"After pursuing a Foundation Profession, how can one pursue other Foundation Professions?"

"After reaching the full level in the current Foundation Profession, you can transition to the next Foundation Profession. The full professional level for a Foundation Profession is Level 10."

With this confirmation,

Su Yu had no further hesitation, directly stating, "I choose to pursue, Mechanic!"

"Ding!"

"Congratulations to the host, successful profession selection, the current profession is: Mechanic (Level 1: 0/1000)."

"Congratulations to the host, successful awakening of core ability: Mechanical Affinity (Level 1), granting clearer perception of mechanical creations and faster efficiency in learning mechanical knowledge..."

With the system prompt,

Su Yu felt as if some kind of shackles in his mind had quietly opened at this moment.

Although unproven, he had an inexplicable feeling that his memory and comprehension abilities had quietly improved.

Additionally, his body seemed to gain a newfound strength, making him feel more energized!

However, the increase in energy wasn't as significant as the enhancement in memory and comprehension.

Even so,

with the completion of profession selection,

Su Yu was delighted to discover that the large necrotic area on his right arm caused by radiation sickness had receded!

Consequently,

the growing fatigue that worsened upon waking had also lessened considerably.

This back and forth,

at the very least, bought him an additional month!

"Reaching the next level requires one thousand experience points?"

Su Yu looked at the experience bar needed to upgrade the Mechanic profession, rubbing his hands together with eager anticipation!

"Nuonuo, time to get started!"

With Su Yu's call,

the corner by the wall, where a charging device reminiscent of a repair robot named WALL-E from an animated movie in Su Yu's past life, had its screen representing eyes light up.

"Received, starting work, starting work!"

The electronics voice with no intonation repeated, and the small robot named Nuonuo followed Su Yu obediently, assisting him with handing tools, dismantling weapons, its efficiency as usual.

However, Su Yu's efficiency had greatly increased!

Furthermore, each time he completed a firearm repair, Su Yu could hear the system prompt sound.

[You completed a repair on a homemade firearm (simple), the repair difficulty rating is: simple, you gained five Mechanic profession experience points and ten Basic Mechanical Repair skill experience points]

[You completed a repair on a...]

Soon, half a day passed.

Su Yu was thrilled to find that the workload he previously took a whole day to complete had been fully handled!

Moreover, with the successful repair of the last firearm, Su Yu's basic mechanical skill successfully upgraded.

Immediately, a wealth of mechanical repair knowledge emerged in Su Yu's mind.

Some he had already learned from his mentor, while others were new to him, but all were quickly memorized, and under the [Mechanical Affinity] core ability, he recalled and thoroughly understood these insights.

A moment later,

when Su Yu reopened his eyes, his gaze was no longer on the assembled or finished firearms, but on the very bottom of the workbench.

There, a large assortment of parts and numerous battered mechanical artifacts from the age of civilization were stacked.

These parts and creations were left by his master or were the remnants from his own repairs after setting aside portions for the management department.

He walked up, rummaged through for a bit, and soon rose with two weapons in hand.

A chain saw,

and a lead-gray double-range shotgun.

This was one of the collections left by Su Yu's mentor, and like the other collections, this weapon capable of switching firing ranges had its core components long decayed beyond use.

It had been gathering dust under the bench for many years, but now Su Yu felt he could attempt to revive it.
