After passing two obstacles in a row, everyone's expressions turned serious upon reaching the final one.
Delphine remained composed, but the man trailing behind her, Dongzi, had a pale face. He was walking beside Brother Jing, aware of Jing's hidden prowess, and knowing even more about the formidable Ignatius Leclair whom Jing followed, Dongzi was stricken with dread.
"Miss Delphine, are we really suited to go up there?" Dongzi stammered hesitantly. To be fair, Ignatius was the one who signed his paycheck and bonuses—his real boss—not this Mr. Griffith.
Griffith noticed Delphine's moment of hesitation and sneered lazily, saying, "It's too late to go back now. The events on this journey are most likely already in his ear. If Ignatius gets infuriated, he might as well chop me up into pieces and feed me to the turtles in the sea."
"He won't," Delphine glanced up at the mountain and said calmly. "If he acts, it won't take lives—it would be worse than death."
