After several years away, as Faye approached the cemetery, her heart felt a bit sore.
She held flowers in one hand and grasped Darnley's hand with the other.
From afar, seeing her parents' tombstone made her nose tingle.
At some point, two red rose bushes had been planted on either side of her parents' gravestone.
It was summer, and the roses were in full, fiery bloom.
She walked up, placed the roses in her hand down, and gazed at her parents' photos on the tombstone.
"Dad, Mom, I'm back.
It's been so many years since I last visited you, you aren't mad at me, are you?"
She finished speaking and pulled Darnley to her side, wrapping an arm around his shoulders.
"Mom and Dad, this is Darnley, my son, your grandson..."
As Faye spoke, she bit her lip, her eyes stinging, and she took a deep breath and said to Darnley, "Darnley, greet them, grandpa, grandma."
