Faye paused, the hand slapping her face stilled as she looked at him, "What did you say to him?"
"He asked me what my name was, and I didn't tell him.
He wanted you to take the call, and I told him you were in the shower.
Faye, I'm really awesome, I told him not to think about bullying you.
I said I'd protect you from now on."
Faye smiled in relief, ruffling his hair, "Don't answer the phone for Mom anymore.
Also... don't talk to this person.
Mom doesn't like him."
Darnley pouted, "Faye, just now Hunter Warren said it wasn't him bullying you, but you bullying him.
I didn't believe him; I can't believe you would bully anyone."
Faye pursed her lips, got on the bed, took the phone from him, and placed it on the table.
She opened a book, "Come, let me tell you a story."
Since some things were hard to explain, changing the subject seemed the best way to avoid them.
Darnley was really exhausted, and after she read only two pages of the story, he fell soundly asleep.
