Chapter 205 - Chapter 197 – The Third Homicide

At the police station entrance, the night wind blew gently, and the streetlights gave off a dim yellow light. Lin Yuan and Pan Jie pushed through the glass doors, greeted by a group of imposing bodyguards in black suits lining the lobby, their gazes sharp and vigilant.

At the center of the guards, an elegant woman with striking poise spoke to Uncle Wei. Clad in a tailored white suit that accentuated her tall, statuesque figure, she moved with effortless grace. Yet her eyes held a piercing intensity, as if capable of unraveling every lie.

"Yes, we need your help to find him," Uncle Wei said, frowning gravely.

The woman nodded calmly, her tone steady and authoritative: "You're welcome. We work for the government, it's our duty to assist."

Abruptly, she stiffened, as if sensing something, and spun around. Her gaze locked onto the entrance, meeting Lin Yuan's eyes directly.

For a heartbeat, the air seemed to freeze.

Before Lin Yuan could speak, a clear prompt rang in his mind:

"Ding! Main mission triggered: Destroy the Blood-Colored Altar."

Lin Yuan's eyes sharpened, his heart jolting.

Blood-Colored Altar? What the hell is that?

At the same time, a faint, ghostly outline appeared behind Zhang Luo, it was the emissary of Black and White Impermanence!

"Don't worry, little one. He means no harm," rumbled the deep voice of the Black Impermanence emissary.

Zhang Luo's expression shifted. She bowed respectfully to the emissaries.

Lin Yuan's brows rose. So this woman isn't ordinary—she can sense Black and White Impermanence?

But when he saw Zhang Luo visibly relax, he turned his attention elsewhere.

"Ah, Xiaojie's here," Uncle Wei said, hurrying over as he spotted Pan Jie. He lowered his voice: "Are you Xiaojie… or Teacher Lin?"

Pan Jie gave him a sidelong glance. "Uncle Wei, it's me, Xiaojie. Teacher Lin has gotten stronger lately, he can come into the police station with me now without needing to possess anyone."

Uncle Wei coughed awkwardly. Before he could reply, Zhang Luo approached. Her gaze was cool and penetrating, as if sizing them up.

"Hello. I've already heard about you from Uncle Wei. I'd like to collaborate with you," she said, staring directly at Lin Yuan. "But you must tell me your true identity."

Uncle Wei led them to a conference room for a detailed discussion.

"How did you learn that my family's Zhang Clan has a Blood-Colored Altar?" Zhang Luo asked.

Lin Yuan's mind stirred, but his expression remained calm.

He couldn't possibly tell her he'd found out through "Jiuchong prompts", even a three-year-old wouldn't believe that.

So he sighed, feigning complexity: "Actually, I heard it from an old man."

Zhang Luo's brows lifted. "What old man?"

Lin Yuan regarded her solemnly, lowering his voice: "A feng shui master who once served the Zhang Clan."

"He told me the Zhangs have worshipped something secret for generations. He even revealed they built a hidden shrine years ago called the 'Blood-Colored Altar.'

"He also said it's linked to the Underworld and might hide things that shouldn't exist."

Lin Yuan spoke gravely but vaguely on purpose, making his words sound partly true.

Zhang Luo studied him, as if weighing his credibility.

After a moment, she smiled enigmatically. "Do you think I'd believe that?"

"Belief doesn't matter," Lin Yuan shrugged. "You should know better than anyone whether the Blood-Colored Altar exists."

I'll test her first, see how much she knows.

Zhang Luo fell silent, her eyes flickering with thought.

Just then, rapid footsteps echoed from the lobby. Uncle Wei's assistant hurried over and whispered anxiously in his ear.

Uncle Wei's face paled. "What? Another homicide?"

Pan Jie started. "Uncle Wei, what's happening?"

Uncle Wei sighed heavily. "This is the third murder this month… and they've all occurred in my jurisdiction."

Pan Jie's eyes widened. "No way! Why are so many people dying lately?"

Uncle Wei's frown grew deeper. "Ugh, why so many homicides? They're all happening in my district, I'll get criticized in my year-end review…"

Pan Jie muttered, "This is really odd…"

Lin Yuan narrowed his eyes, studying Uncle Wei. "…Where did it happen?"

Uncle Wei sighed again. "Q Hotel… Again at Q Hotel."

Lin Yuan and Pan Jie exchanged a startled look, their hearts jolting.

=====================
