After a long meeting, Augustine finally stepped out of the conference room, exhaustion shadowing his sharp features until his eyes landed on a message from Anne.
'I'm going to the hospital. Papa is awake.'
In an instant, his entire expression shifted. A smile tugged at his lips, lighting up his face.
Gustave, walking beside him, did a double-take. He wasn't used to seeing that kind of expression on his boss. "You are smiling," he remarked, raising an eyebrow in surprise.
Augustine paused and glanced at him. "Anne's father is awake after three years." Then, as if remembering something, he added, "Send some flowers and a basket of fruits. Wish him a speedy recovery."
"Yes, sir." Gustave gave a respectful nod and swiftly walked off to carry out the order.
As Augustine headed toward his office, he began dialing Anne's number. Just then, he caught sight of someone waiting near his office door, and his expression darkened.
It was Megan.
