First years had limited options, as they were expected to learn the fundamentals before moving on to specialized classes; however, there were exceptions every single year.
All a first year needed to do to receive permission to take classes beyond the fundamentals was prove that they had the required knowledge. Though there were several basic courses on his schedule, they would only last a week at most.
