Aidan and Aiden were about to start the ceremony when the soon to be king disrupted it.
"Bastards, what's going on. Why are you giving up the throne without a fight."
Exchanging looks they asked, "Whatever is the matter brother, don't you want the throne." "Yeah, isn't this what you came for, blowing down our protective wall and whatnot."
"I mean yeah that is the main reason I came but beating the two of you up was on my to do list so ..."
Not really surprised by the reply they received the royal brothers decided to give one of their own.
"You see Danny, Sulivan told us about how freakishly strong you and your makeshift family are, with almost all of you in the second TIER we don't want to be on the receiving end of such strength." "Besides you are the firstborn triplet and as such the crown is rightfully yours and would have been so from the beginning had you not offended father."
Hearing their old man being brought up reopened some old wounds but Daniel just decided to wear an unbothered expression after all, the man was dead and with his death their quarrels and problems were buried.
With no more questions being asked the crowning ceremony proceeded smoothly. When it came to the session where any and all objections were to be made there was silence, signifying that he had been accepted by everyone even though some faces said otherwise, especially that of his only direct nephew who looked irritated but managed to conceal it with a straight face.
Overall the event was a bit lacklustre though that could be attributed to the global situation ongoing. A few bottles of wine were brought out for the occasion and shared among family and friends of the new king, with idle chatter being made in the small circles formed, the main subject being the new king who was unofficially dubbed King of the Apocalypse, or King with no subjects.
Night soon came and with it came the departure of the many guests who had taken time off their busy schedule, a routine filled with suicidal thoughts, to be present.
The Windsor-Smiths hybrid family retired for the night in one of their co-owned dungeons, Amy's in particular, where they had parked their fleet of armoured luxury sedans.
They had left Daniel to sleep alone since he was the king and would be the one on the receiving end of any sneak attack. He had the mana charged defensive enchanted chain as his only protection and his wits, perception and senses as his weapons.
Luckily no attacker came that night allowing him to rest for a solid 10hours due to the accumulated fatigue. The rest slept for half the time since time in the dungeon flowed 2 times faster.
The next morning, Daniel and his family went to the ballroom which had been converted into a dining area. He wasn't accompanied by the Smiths who had expressed their desire to stay out of family gatherings due to the subtle looks of displeasure they kept receiving.
Seated at the table with a wife on each side and their children beside them, Daniel and the rest earned odd looks, something they deserved due to their questionable choice of clothes. Instead of wearing something elegant and formal like everyone else, they decided to dress in baggy t-shirts and jeans which hid the defensive lightweight armour they wore underneath.
With the grace said, breakfast commenced and they dined like the royals they were, considering that the hall held almost every Windsor alive.
With breakfast over all the children were asked to leave the hall and bond while their parents discussed matters of the world, an event Leone felt would be helpful since he didn't really know his cousins.
Later in the courtyard, the Windsor cousins were all flocking towards Leone, something he had already expected to happen due to him being the son of the current King, making him an heir to the throne.
Carmen who had been forced to come to this bonding ceremony would have also been surrounded by her cousins if not for the frown on her face and the fireball floating in front of her, both excellent deterrents.
Leone did his best to address the questions being thrown at him which was quite easy considering that the questions all revolved around one thing; his new race.
With his unique features like his furry ears, amber coloured eyes and fluffy tail swaying behind him, it was impossible for him to be mistaken for a human. He told them he was a kitsune, part fox part human, which wasn't really a lie since it was part true.
The round of questioning and bootlicking went on for a while until it was disrupted by an arrow whizzing to his face.
The attacker was Hector, child of the dethroned king who has been pissed since the arrival of Leone and company. He who would have been the next king in a couple of decades time, watched as the opportunity slipped away because of some old doomsday protocol which required that all relatives of the throne be brought together in the palace in case of a global crisis like the one they were going through.
As if that wasn't enough the respect and fame he had among the younger generation proved useless as seen by the lack of attention he received from his younger cousins who usually grovelled at his feet and sang his praises.
Frankly, he had had enough and wanted to take it out on Leone by embarrassing him and showing him his place. With an arrow drawn, it was released and its target was around Leone's head, close enough to draw his attention but high enough not to injure anyone.
Having managed to draw his attention, he moved on to the next and final stage of his two-step plan, embarrassing Leone.
"Hey cous, I was just thinking, since we're supposed to be bonding why don't we all play a fun game of archery?"
