"This, and this—it's all fake!"
Naruto's shadow clone pointed at the disguised White Zetsu scattered across Konoha, allowing the shinobi of the village to eliminate them with precision. The battlefield was chaos, with combat raging on every front.
Neji suddenly appeared beside him, his Byakugan activated. "Naruto!"
Naruto turned, a grin breaking across his face. "Hey, Neji. Long time no see."
His tone was unusually casual. Without hesitation, he punched Neji lightly on the shoulder, his expression carrying an unusual warmth—one that Neji wasn't used to seeing since Naruto's return.
Neji felt something was off. His usually heavy heart lightened for a moment, but his instincts screamed at him that Naruto had changed. "Why are you doing this? Making them think you've betrayed the village?"
Naruto's grin didn't falter. "It's complicated, Neji. You'll understand in time. I don't care what they think, as long as you do."
Neji's frown deepened. Naruto had always sought acknowledgment from others, but now he seemed distant, cold even.
"But—"
Naruto raised his hand, silencing him. "Let time answer that for you. Now, we've got a war to win."
With that, he rushed back into battle.
Tenten grabbed Neji's wrist before he could follow. "Forget it. The White Zetsu are still everywhere—we need to focus."
Neji exhaled sharply but nodded. The fight wasn't over yet.
Root Headquarters, Underground
Danzo lay inside a coffin-like structure, absorbing the blood of three of his fallen Root operatives. Power surged through him. He had assimilated their techniques, their abilities—he was evolving beyond human limitations.
A sinister grin stretched across his face. "Soon, I'll be strong enough to bring Konoha under my absolute rule. Tsunade… Jiraiya… they won't be able to stop me."
The thought of Tsunade's legendary medical prowess thrilled him. If he could drain her, his body would become nearly indestructible. He would surpass the Kage-level. He would become untouchable.
"Jiraiya? Hmph. After Tsunade, he's next."
His thoughts were cut short. His heightened senses detected two figures moving at alarming speed—straight toward his location.
"Tch… who dares?"
Above, Naruto and Sasuke landed on the rooftop of the hideout.
"It's down here," Naruto said calmly.
Sasuke barely acknowledged him before kicking down the roof. He dropped inside, eyes flaring red as his Sharingan scanned the dimly lit chamber.
His gaze settled on the coffin.
"Hmph."
Naruto spoke again. "That's him."
That was all Sasuke needed. Without hesitation, he shattered the coffin's lid with a single, brutal strike.
A dark chakra erupted as Danzo shot upright, his grotesque, fanged grin bared.
"Who dares disturb my slumber?!"
Karin, who had followed from the shadows, recoiled. Her sensory abilities screamed warnings. "Sasuke, be careful! His chakra is… sickeningly twisted! It's even colder than yours was before!"
Sasuke clicked his tongue. "Tch. Then I'll burn him alive."
He fired an arrow from his Susanoo without hesitation.
The projectile shot forward with a violent screech, but Danzo moved—fast.
Sasuke's eyes narrowed. "So, he's quick…"
Before he could react, Danzo reappeared behind him, his teeth bared as he lunged to bite into Susanoo's form.
Sasuke almost laughed—"Biting Susanoo? Pathetic."
Then he felt it.
His chakra was draining.
His smirk vanished. "What…?!"
Without hesitation, Sasuke ignited Amaterasu, black flames roaring around him. But Danzo twisted his body unnaturally, dodging the flames before lunging—this time at Karin.
"A woman with monstrous vitality—your blood will be divine!"
Before his fangs could sink in, a golden blur intercepted him with a devastating kick, sending him skidding across the room.
Naruto landed between Karin and Danzo, his expression unreadable.
Karin gasped. "Naruto—thanks."
Naruto smirked.
Sasuke, however, was livid. "I don't need you saving my people!"
Fueled by rage, Sasuke surged forward, his Susanoo's blade slicing through the air.
Danzo countered effortlessly, wielding an array of jutsu he had stolen from others. The two clashed violently, the underground lair trembling from the sheer force.
Naruto stood back, arms crossed. This was Sasuke's battle.
Danzo sneered between attacks. "Itachi's biggest mistake was sparing a little brat like you. But no matter—I'll make you part of me! I'll take your Mangekyō!"
Sasuke's fury erupted.
"You dare insult my brother?!" His voice dripped with venom. The world around him blurred as the hunger for revenge drowned out all else.
"Inferno Style: Kagutsuchi!"
Danzo's expression twisted in alarm as Sasuke's black flame-coated sword came slashing down.
Instinctively, Danzo activated a stolen jutsu to enhance his reflexes, narrowly evading the strike. But before he could escape completely, Naruto moved.
"Banshō Ten'in!"
The gravitational pull yanked Danzo off course—straight into the burning edge of Sasuke's sword.
"No—!" Danzo's scream tore through the chamber as Amaterasu engulfed him. The flames licked hungrily at his flesh, an inescapable death sentence.
Sasuke watched with burning eyes, blood dripping from his tear ducts. "Burn forever. Never stop burning. Hahahaha…"
Danzo's voice turned to agonized wails, his body writhing, disintegrating within the black flames.
"No! I can't die here! Not before I become Hokage! I—!"
His words were cut off as his body collapsed into ashes.
Sasuke exhaled heavily, his heart pounding. The room stank of scorched flesh. It was over.
Naruto turned away. "Good. Now let's go."
Sasuke didn't move.
His smirk widened, teeth bared. "One step closer, Itachi. One step closer… to avenging you."
Danzo Shimura—the man who manipulated, stole, and slaughtered—was no more.
Burned alive by Amaterasu.
And not a soul would mourn him.
