Before Lin Dongyao and Dai Mubai could say anything, Xiao Wu walked straight toward Oscar.
"Uncle, give me two sausages," she said.
"Uncle? Who are you calling uncle?! Do I look like an uncle to you?" Oscar stiffened, his voice rising twice its usual volume.
"Is there a problem?" Xiao Wu examined Oscar's scruffy, unshaven face, genuinely puzzled.
"A huge problem! I'm a fresh-faced youth, and you're calling me an uncle?" Oscar pointed at his own nose, questioning his very existence.
"Alright, Xiao Ao, how many times have I told you? Stop selling your 'big sausages' in the academy. Do you want to make everyone here vomit?" Dai Mubai walked over, his face full of exasperation.
"You can't eat these sausages," he then explained to Tang San and Xiao Wu.
"It's not that bad. Oscar's sausages are actually decent quality—it's just that the incantation for his spirit ability is a bit… hard to swallow," Lin Dongyao defended Oscar.
"Hah! See, Xiao Yao gets me. Free sausages for you for a month!" Oscar looked at Lin Dongyao like he'd found a kindred spirit.
"Incantation?" Tang San frowned slightly, confused.
"Yeah, an incantation."
"These sausages are created using Oscar's spirit ability. Since his spirit is a food-type spirit called 'Big Sausage,' he's got a nickname around here—Uncle Big Sausage."
"Xiao Ao, make a sausage," Dai Mubai instructed after explaining.
"Do I have to?" Oscar grimaced.
"Hurry up!" Dai Mubai glared and raised a fist in mock threat.
"Fine, fine…" Oscar shrank back and reluctantly summoned his spirit.
Then…
"I HAVE A BIG SAUSAGE!"
With two yellow spirit rings glowing, Oscar chanted the incantation for his food-type spirit ability.
A moment later, an identical sausage appeared in his palm, just like the ones on the grill.
"Uh…"
Watching the process—and Oscar's ridiculously lewd expression while chanting—Tang San and the others were left speechless, frozen in stunned silence.
"Don't let Oscar's spirit activation weird you out. His spirit is actually a top-tier food-type spirit. His first spirit ability, the Super Recovery Sausage, can restore 10% of your stamina and spirit power, speed up healing, and even fill your stomach."
Lin Dongyao glanced at Tang San and the others before explaining the effects of Oscar's first spirit ability.
The first time Lin Dongyao saw Oscar use his ability, he'd reacted the same way. But after a year together, he'd gotten used to it.
With that, Lin Dongyao grabbed the sausage from Oscar's hand and took a bite.
"Bro!" Oscar looked touched.
"Xiao Yao's right. Oscar's spirit is the best food-type spirit I've ever seen," Dai Mubai added.
"It does seem useful, but that incantation… is something else," Tang San admitted, nodding.
"I never knew spirits could be this ridiculous," Xiao Wu muttered.
"Welcome to Shrek Academy. We've got all kinds of weird spirits here—like Xiao Yao's Blue Silver Grass spirit."
"Alright, Tang San, Xiao Wu, since we sparred yesterday, you two can skip the second-round spirit power test and go straight to the final exam," Dai Mubai said.
"Why?!" A girl in an ice-blue dress, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up.
"Anyone with spirit power above level 25 can skip to the final round," Lin Dongyao answered.
"So, since I'm at level 26, I can skip the second test too?" the girl pressed.
"Exactly," Dai Mubai confirmed, looking at her.
With that, he led the four of them—Tang San, Xiao Wu, the ice-blue-dressed girl, and another—to the very back of the academy.
There stood a two-story wooden house, in front of which sat a burly middle-aged man with his arms crossed and eyes closed.
Hearing their approach, he slowly opened his eyes and watched as the seven of them walked over.
"Teacher Zhao, we've got four this year who made it to the final round," Dai Mubai announced, stepping forward.
"Hmm, four? Not bad." Zhao Wuji rose to his feet.
"It's been a while since I've loosened up my bones. Since there are four, I'll take over the final combat test this year," he said, a faint smirk playing on his lips.
"Teacher Zhao, that's not fair! Wasn't I supposed to test the new students?" Dai Mubai protested immediately.
"Oh? You wanna spar too? Later, behind the academy—I'll give you a personal session," Zhao Wuji shot back, narrowing his eyes.
"Uh… fine." Dai Mubai broke out in a cold sweat.
"Relax, I'll hold back. I won't move—just attack me. If you can force me to use two spirit abilities within the time it takes for one incense stick to burn, you pass." Zhao Wuji laid out his conditions.
"Deal! No way all four of us can't pass," Xiao Wu declared defiantly, bristling at Zhao Wuji's tone.
"Exactly!"
"Don't underestimate him. Teacher Zhao is a 76th-ranked Spirit Sage, with unparalleled defense. Among those of the same rank, he's unmatched—his title is Unmoving King." Lin Dongyao warned the four, deciding to reveal Zhao Wuji's true strength.
"76th-ranked Spirit Sage?!" Xiao Wu gasped, thinking to herself: If even a teacher is a Spirit Sage, is the academy's dean possibly a Spirit Douluo?
"Unmoving King?!" The girl in the ice-blue dress exclaimed, as if recalling something.
Tang San and the others turned to her.
Seeing their looks, she explained: "I've heard of the Unmoving King. They say he once escaped a siege by over twenty Spirit Emperors and Spirit Sages from the Spirit Hall unharmed—all thanks to his impenetrable defense."
"Damn… that's insane."
Zhao Wuji naturally heard their conversation, especially their awed gasps. His eyebrows twitched in satisfaction.
"Well? Finished strategizing?" he asked, inwardly smug.
"Alright, here's the plan: Xiao Wu and I are power-attack types. What about you two?" Tang San asked the girls.
"I'm an agility-attack type."
"I'm a support type," the two answered in turn.
"Good. In that case, you focus on support buffs. You flank and look for openings to strike. Xiao Wu and I will take him head-on. Sound good?" Tang San quickly devised a makeshift battle plan—after all, he barely knew these two.
"Got it."
Lin Dongyao and Dai Mubai quietly stepped aside to observe.
"Seven Treasures Glorious!"
"Meow~"
The two girls activated their spirits—Seven Treasure Glazed Pagoda and Netherworld Spirit Cat, respectively.
"Seven Treasure Glazed Pagoda?!" Lin Dongyao's eyes widened as he stared at the girl. As a support-type spirit master, Dugu Bo had told him about this spirit—the so-called Number One Support Spirit on the continent.
No wonder her dress looks so expensive. After puzzling over it, everything now made sense.
Next, he saw Tang San and Xiao Wu activate their spirits, their bodies briefly glowing pink.
Xiao Wu looked normal, but Tang San's transformation was… odd.
His originally dark hair took on a faint grayish-pink hue, and he grew a few centimeters taller.
And they say they're not siblings? They're literally a male and female rabbit pair. Lin Dongyao smirked internally at their synchronized movements.
