Due to her overwhelming nervousness, beads of sweat had formed on the smooth forehead of Ikuyo Kita. Sitting in her seat, she was anxiously thinking about what to do.
Would it be too obvious if she just walked up and asked directly?
"What should I do...?"
Her mind was a complete mess. Because of that dream she had last night, all she could think about was Kazami Haru. It was even hard to keep a basic level of composure.
How should she start a conversation?
Like, "Kazami-kun, did you have a dream about me last night?"
Wouldn't that just be outright saying some cheesy pickup line?!
He'd definitely look at her with disgust!
Or something like, "Haru, if you confessed to me, I'd definitely accept."
That's even more ridiculous! Kazami-kun, who's naturally reserved, would probably find it bizarre and think she was some kind of delusional idiot woman!
"Ugh... No way, I don't want that!"
Kita clutched her head and slumped over her desk, letting out a moan of despair.
Takamatsu Tomori, who was at her own desk playing with a "Marine Creatures Series: Vol. 3" sticker, noticed something strange about Kita.
It was hard not to notice someone repeatedly banging their head on their desk. Tomori couldn't help but be confused by the bizarre behavior.
What's going on with Kita?
"Morning, Haru."
"Morning, Tomori."
Kazami Haru suddenly walked in from the classroom door, casually greeting Takamatsu Tomori.
At that moment, Kita's body trembled slightly. Slowly lifting her head, she sneakily glanced toward the window-side seat using just the corner of her eye. It was such a natural move, it looked like she was simply gazing at the blue sky outside.
Kazami Haru, as usual, entered the classroom with a calm expression.
He sat at his desk and began checking his phone. Occasionally, he smiled to himself when he saw something amusing and chatted casually with Tomori next to him.
The way he looked at Tomori, it was the same way he used to look at her.
But now, that smile no longer belonged to her.
A stabbing, gut-wrenching pain hit her chest again. A tidal wave of guilt and regret surged through her. Her already fragile heart was unable to bear it, and tears welled up instantly.
She was trying so hard to suppress her emotions.
Kita Ikuyo felt that maybe, this feeling wasn't fake.
…
"How pathetic."
Hiding in the bathroom, Kita stared at her red, swollen eyes on her phone screen and gave a self-deprecating smile.
Just seeing Kazami Haru made her want to cry uncontrollably, and yet she longed so desperately to be close to him.
She wanted to talk to him, apologize, hold his hand, hug him—even go further.
But the moment those thoughts arose, fear and guilt would flood her mind. While filled with yearning, she couldn't bring herself to approach him.
The mental conflict was so intense that her stomach had started to hurt.
At this point, she was beginning to believe that the "memories" in her dream might not be just delusions.
It might just be a girl's intuition—
But her feelings for Kazami Haru probably weren't fake either.
"Calm down, calm down!"
"Haru is still okay right now."
"And I—won't make those stupid mistakes again!"
After letting her emotions out, Kita finally began to calm down.
If she remained flustered and stuck in negativity, the obstacles before her would only get harder to overcome. She didn't want to stay frozen like that.
So, what should she do now?
Call him to the rooftop right from the classroom and say "I like you" to his face?
No, too risky...
She had to trust the "foresight dream" and the information it gave her.
If the dream's memories were based on real events, then Kita Ikuyo now had the power to avoid most of the upcoming problems!
That power was—information!
According to the "intel," after her friend invited Kazami to karaoke, he found a chance to confess to her right after. That meant that Haru probably already had feelings for her too.
But she couldn't confess now.
Not because she didn't want to—but because the "future" had already changed.
In her memory, Tomori didn't have such a close relationship with Kazami Haru. But today, she saw them laughing and chatting like close friends. It seemed like it changed after they walked home together yesterday.
Why did it turn out like this?!
It was only one day, where did Tomori even come from?! How did she suddenly get so close to Haru?!
Just when Kita finally mustered the courage, her spirits were instantly crushed!
If Haru had already developed strong feelings for Tomori, then her confession would definitely fail!
She might even scare him off and get distanced because of it!
But Kazami's charm was overwhelming. If she stayed on the sidelines, she'd have to watch him get stolen away by someone else.
"Ughhh! What do I do? I want to confess right now..."
What should she do to naturally get close to Haru?
"At this point, I have to think of another way!"
There was still one opportunity in front of her.
And that was—joining the Kessoku Band!
Back then, Kazami Haru had invited her to join after seeing her play the guitar. So if she brought her guitar to school and caught his attention again—wouldn't that work?!
Realizing this, Kita's eyes lit up.
Just using that topic to strike up a conversation would give her the perfect opening!
Then she could say something like, "Let's go to karaoke and test my vocals," and naturally get some alone time with him—eventually walking a path similar to what she remembered. Her final goal, of course, was—
To get Kazami Haru to confess to her!
Wouldn't that seal the deal?
That's the power of information!
Even if Tomori and Haru had a good relationship—the advantage is mine!
"Kita-chan, what are you mumbling to yourself about in front of the mirror?"
Lost in her own fantasy, Kita hadn't even noticed someone quietly sneaking up.
"Ah! N-no, it's nothing!"
"Well, if nothing's wrong, let's get back to class. I heard there's a new transfer student today..."
"Transfer student?"
Author Note
Thank you so much to everyone who's supported me this far!
Technically, I'm not entirely new. I've written some embarrassing stuff before, but this is my first time writing a "Mygo" story, and my first time writing about simulators or Bocchi the Rock! content too.
I originally planned to write a multiverse action series, more about killing and hacking through enemies, not twisted romantic drama. But after finishing Mygo and being charmed by Tomori, I lost my mind a bit and impulsively published the book.
Didn't even have an outline, I just created a title out of nowhere.
One moment I was thinking how my main character with Kurumi's "Zafkiel" could fight Rem's giant hammer, and the next, I was thinking about how to flirt with Anon...
I had no idea how to write "simulation" stories at all.
So for the first week after publishing, I kept joking that this story was "doomed."
Because I really didn't know what I was doing. The early chapters may feel rough, but I'll try to improve.
Anyway, I'll definitely write it seriously!
But if it turns out terrible, just treat it as a joke and roast me gently...
To answer everyone's questions: in this simulator arc, only Ryo-san ends up with a good ending out of the three simulations, that's not my fault, my alter ego took over [jk].
Yes, the simulations may often end in failure, but they'll gradually lead to happy outcomes. Isn't a life full of regrets funnier in hindsight anyway?
This doesn't mean I hate Kita, I'm a hardcore Kita fan!
Simulations are one thing, reality will be written toward happiness!
