Chapter 188 - CHAPTER 188

The Awakening of New Powers

During the meal, Caesar glanced at his two sons, who hesitated to speak. Their expressions betrayed their thoughts, making it clear what was on their minds.

Smiling, Caesar addressed the gathered crew.

"The boys have eaten Devil Fruits. From now on, they are Devil Fruit users."

The moment his words fell, the entire crew erupted in excitement. Everyone had been curious about the Goro Goro no Mi (Thunder-Thunder Fruit) and the Pika Pika no Mi (Glint-Glint Fruit), and now that the brothers had consumed them, they were eager to witness their abilities firsthand.

Their friends, especially, couldn't contain their curiosity.

Under the expectant gazes of the crew, the two brothers—Carlos and Lucius—exchanged glances.

"You first? Or should I?"

After a brief silent exchange, the decision was made—Carlos, the elder brother, would go first.

Under the enthusiastic attention of everyone, Carlos pressed his hands together and spoke lightly.

"Million Volts."

As his words fell, he spread his hands apart, revealing a crackling chain of electricity flickering between them.

With a sudden thrust of his arms skyward, a bolt of lightning shot out, splitting the air with a deafening roar. The display of raw power was enough to send shivers down everyone's spine.

Then, to further demonstrate his new abilities, Carlos shifted into his elemental form—his body momentarily dissolving into lightning before reforming.

Once his turn ended, Lucius stepped forward, eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Compared to Carlos, Lucius' Pika Pika no Mi had an arguably flashier effect.

Raising his left hand, he extended his index finger and aimed at the sky.

A golden light flickered at his fingertip. In the blink of an eye, a piercing beam of light shot out, disappearing beyond the horizon.

Not stopping there, he shifted his fingers into an open palm. As golden energy pulsed in his hand, several light projectiles materialized and burst forth.

Then, like Carlos, Lucius showcased his own elemental transformation, partially turning into light.

Despite their incredible abilities, both brothers still lacked full control. The Goro Goro no Mi and Pika Pika no Mi granted super-speed capabilities, but the boys could only partially manifest their elemental forms.

Still, their performance left everyone in awe.

Among them, Alice—who thrived on excitement—refused to be left out. Determined to steal the spotlight, she insisted on showing off her own powers.

No one could resist Alice's enthusiasm, and their eyes sparkled with admiration as they encouraged her.

Praise and Training

"Amazing, Alice! You really are like a little angel!"

"Yeah! And Carlos and Lucius—so strong already! Mastering their abilities this quickly!"

"As expected of Captain Caesar's kids!"

Some of these words were sincere; others were slightly exaggerated, especially for Alice, whose powers had been known to the crew for over two years.

Meanwhile, their young friends couldn't help but envy Carlos and Lucius.

"How lucky they are! They've gained such powerful abilities!"

"I wish I had a Devil Fruit too! That was incredible!"

Hearing these voices of admiration, Carlos and Lucius felt an unprecedented sense of pride. Today was, without a doubt, the happiest day of their lives.

Alice, though shy at times, basked in the praise. She nestled into Caesar's arms, pretending to be reserved, but her adorable act only made everyone laugh.

For Caesar, however, his greatest joy was seeing his children's rapid progress.

"For their first time using their abilities, they're doing remarkably well," he thought.

But simply acquiring powerful Devil Fruits wasn't enough. In this sea, every ability had to be honed to perfection.

Thus, Caesar made a decision—he would personally train his children.

Guidance from a Captain

From that day on, Caesar dedicated time each day to helping his sons master their newfound powers. Alice, ever the energetic one, insisted on joining in as well.

As an experienced fighter, Caesar understood the importance of well-rounded strength—not just in Devil Fruit abilities, but in Haki, swordsmanship, stamina, and physical endurance.

"Carlos, you can already control a million volts. Now, push yourself to two million volts!"

Guided by his father's instructions, Carlos generated an electric charge in his palms. A small lightning serpent danced between his fingers, growing stronger as he poured more energy into it.

Caesar pointed toward a reef in the distance.

"Channel the electricity through your wrist and attack that rock."

"Understood, Father!"

Carlos took a deep breath.

"Two million volts—Discharge!"

A blinding blue streak shot out, striking the moss-covered reef. A moment later, the current intensified, forming a pillar of lightning that detonated in a crackling explosion!

Lucius and Alice clapped excitedly.

"Big Brother, that was amazing!"

"Yes, well done, Carlos," Caesar praised. "But your output hasn't quite reached two million volts yet. Keep refining your control."

For Carlos, who had only recently mastered a million volts, his progress was already remarkable.

And that attack—"God's Judgment"—was a terrifying technique that would one day rival even Enel's attacks.

Caesar left Carlos to continue training and turned to Lucius. Taking him to the other side of the ship, he issued a new challenge.

"Lucius, you've mastered basic light-based attacks. You can generate piercing beams and explosive rays. But now, I want you to fire lasers from your eyes."

The Pika Pika no Mi had immense potential—and Caesar saw an opportunity to develop a Cyclops-like technique for Lucius. If he could fire lasers from his eyes, he would gain an unparalleled advantage in combat.

Lucius closed his eyes. Golden light shimmered through his eyelids as he focused.

Then, he snapped his eyes open.

A searing laser beam shot out, streaking across the endless sea.

"I… I did it, Father!"

Caesar ruffled Lucius' hair, smiling.

"Yes, you did well. Now, work on sustaining the beam and increasing its intensity. Precision and power—those are your next steps."

Lucius nodded eagerly. He was determined to master this ability as soon as possible.

As for Alice—her development was different. She had gained her powers much earlier than her brothers, but she had yet to undergo true training. For now, Caesar focused on helping her refine her Holy Light abilities, particularly her healing skills.

"Alice, before anything else, you need a strong body. Even the most powerful Devil Fruit won't make you invincible."

This principle applied to all three of his children.

A strong physique was the foundation of true power.

Arrival at Wano Country

While Caesar was training his children, an important event was unfolding on board.

Fujitora—who had been training relentlessly—had finally reached the level of an Admiral-class powerhouse.

His battle with Garp had unlocked his hidden potential, and with Caesar's guidance, he had surpassed his previous limits.

One month later, the Caesar Pirates arrived at a particular sea.

Lily, the navigator, studied the map carefully.

"We're nearing Wano Country."

Hearing this, Caesar's expression shifted.

For him, Wano was complicated. It was his birthplace, but it was also the country he had once left behind.

Still, something inside him stirred.

"How long until we arrive?" he asked.

Lily calculated their current speed, factoring in the ocean currents.

"About half a day."

"That's long enough."** Caesar muttered.**

He had always been intrigued by Wano, and now—he had the chance to return.

A smirk tugged at his lips.

"Let's go. Set course for Wano."

"Aye, Captain!"

And so, the Rex sailed toward Wano Country—toward an uncertain future.
