Derrick's voice thundered through the classroom as the assessing crystal dimmed back to neutral. "How the hell haven't I leveled up?! After all that nonstop training?!"
"Nonstop?" Adrian shot him a look, one eyebrow raised. "You mean the one push-up you do before bed?" He deadpanned, squinting like he was trying to see the logic in Derrick's words. "Yeah... you're a warrior, bro."
The classroom exploded with laughter. Derrick's shoulders slumped. His bravado? Gone. And the loudest laugh came from the one girl who could absolutely crush his pride.

He could still hear her venomous whisper from the other night, the one that played on a loop in his head ever since he'd tried to end things with her.
