Chapter 140 - The Invasion Of Blodeau (III) – Domain Vs. Domain

With a swift jump, Duncan evaded the swing from the sword, losing only a few strands of his hair and a huge chunk of his trench coat. "My coat! Do you know how much it costs!?"

Behind the writhing Elf, Titus rolled his eyes, "Kid, stop complaining about your fucking coat, start attacking the damn cunt! If we don't restart the barrier, you can say goodbye to all Elf-kind!"

Realising that Titus was right, Duncan grinned sheepishly, before inching closer to Titus. "You know, ever since I ascended to tier-4, I barely had time to practice any spell. But I did manage to master a spell, and quite frankly, it suits my taste: Wooden Gauntlet!"

Wood emerged from the ground, wrapping around his fists, until they were covered in thick, gnarly wood. Smashing his fists, Duncan grew a wretched smile, something which gave Cuptamo the chills. "I'm usually more of a shoot first, ask later guy, but if I'm mad, like really mad, I like to pummel them...

With my bare hands!"

With a solid swing, Duncan began pummelling Cuptamo, his fists raining his anger on him. Despite the massive attacks, the wiry Elf just yawned, parrying each attack with minimal effort. How disappointing...I thought he was much smarter– Wait, where is the other one!?

Realising that he was tricked, Cuptamo's eyes shrank as he turned his head swiftly, only to see a grey cloaked figure tapping away on the barrier's control device. "Oh no you don't! I didn't spend the last ten years of my life on this plan, only to have it ruined by a bunch of little brats! Seems like I need to up my ante..."

With a swift jump, Cuptamo retreated, before sheathing his sword. "Despite what it seems, my main focus is on magic. The only reason you bastards didn't see its full glory was because I didn't want that old bitch to find out what I was doing. Seeing that I was discovered anyway, I'll just have to settle it with a big bang...

Domain, release..."

The world turned quiet, as a soft pulse of magic emanated from Cuptamo. Under Duncan's tense eyes, the surroundings began to distort. Mangroves began growing from the ground, as gloopy seawater began flooding the surroundings. Swamp Balls emerged from the musty waters, giving a ghoulish atmosphere to the already creepy setting. "Ahahahah! You lot forgot, but despite my sword skills, I ascended to tier-7 as a Marsh Magician. Nobody ever escaped from my traps after I released my domain, Grave Of The Watery Ones. Now die!"

Roots emerged from the mangroves, whipping towards them en masse. Initially dodging and parrying every attack, Duncan slowly began to be consumed by the ever-increasing roots, till he could no longer dodge by, causing him to be wounded gravely, with his left elbow being broken. "Aahhh! Shit, you traitorous cunt, you'll not have a good ending!"

Seeing the young Elf being battered, Titus could not help but freeze. Although stricken multiple times during the time he stopped, he did not register the attacks, for his mind lay elsewhere. Damn it! The kid's got no chance without a domain, but the Demons outside...

Fuck it, the kid's more important!

With a sigh, Titus decimated the roots that were closing in towards him. "Domain, expand..."

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Thwack!

With another punch, Duncan managed to parry another root, but not before getting a large gash on his right leg. Limping in pain, Duncan glared angrily at the traitor, wishing that he could get closer to him to lop his head off. "Ahahahahah! You're just as dumb as the broad you call a mother! Who cares if a few people die? They should be glad that they're sacrificing themselves for the sake of the greater good! Of course, I'm more important than them..."

Eyes gleaming, he prepared for his final attack. From deep within the swamp, a loud roar was heard, after which a gigantic tree walked out of it. "You...you monster! How on Earadun were you able to chain a Treant in your domain!? Don't you know this harbours into the taboo!? Only the Demons of old..."

Realisation finally struck him. Eyes opening wide in horror, he could only watch in horror as the tier-6 Treant shambled in front of him, pain and rage emanating from its face as it lifted its arm to strike him. "Goodbye, you little piece of shit! I'll make sure that the bitch you call a mo–"

Swoosh!

The world turned grey, as the muddy waters began receding back. "W-what on Earadun is this!?" Cuptamo could only watch in horror as his domain began to be overridden by another.

Tall, broken remnants of mighty buildings began emerging from the ground, their crumbling remains held together with a glowing golden light. Etched in them were faint sketches of ancient, archaic sigils, each radiating power unfathomable. Though faint, murmurs floated through the air, their meaning illegible. Standing at ten very center lay a warrior, his face clad in a grey powersuit.

"I-it cannot be..."

Those were Cuptamo's final words, before the grey figure lifted a sword, striking it right into the heart of the caster. Cuptamo could only watch in horror as the golden strike cleaved him apart, vaporising him into ashes.

Delirious, Duncan swore he thought he saw the face of old Orc Titus as the Grey Knight disappeared...
