Chapter 130: The Third Creation

James appeared back in his bedroom.

He had to make several additional jumps for extra safety before returning here.

'That was unfortunate…' He had wanted to obtain some useful information from these men. But it would have been too risky to remain there any longer.

He checked his room to see if anyone had tried to open the door while he was away, but it appeared untouched.

His parents seemed to respect his privacy and he was grateful for that. It made things easier for him.

James opened the window to look outside and was welcomed with a gentle breeze.

'It's getting late already, and I feel very tired, but… now is not the time to rest.' He took a 'Pepper-Up' potion from his reserve and drank it in one gulp.

"That should keep me up tonight." He muttered to himself as he changed into something more comfortable.

He then placed his portable laboratory on the floor of his bedroom and ventured inside, while carrying the materials he had bought tonight.

Tonight's encounter with those Hit Wizards had at least served as a reminder that he was still limited when it came to combat.

Primum and Nyxaris were powerful tools, but they required specific circumstances to unleash their full potential.

James placed the small chest on the table and opened it up.

His amber eyes moved to the silver substance inside the glass shard.

This was a very rare ingredient. They called it 'Liquid Silver', but it is the blood of an ancient creature that is long extinct.

The closest substance to this would be mercury, a metal that remains in a liquid state most of the time, as it has a very low melting point.

He hadn't been sure if Lady Rose was going to be able to acquire it… it is that rare.

James speculated that there was likely less than a gallon of this substance left in existence.

"This jar has exactly two hundred milliliters. Just enough to create my next tool." He lifted the jar and brought it to another part of the table.

He had already prepared all of the other ingredients he was going to need.

"Mmm… I shouldn't do this here, now that I think about it." There is little space here.

The process for this creation resembled more the act of forging rather than potion-making or alchemy, so I wouldn't be able to do it in such a closed environment.

James collected all the ingredients and walked outside. Once he had everything ready, he apparated to a clearing near the border of his family property.

The Potters had a massive piece of land around the castle. This included a forest, a lake, and this huge area filled with grassy plains and the occasional boulder.

James scanned the area.

"This is perfect. There is more than enough space, and no one will see me here."

He positioned all the ingredients the way he wanted. Then he took out a cauldron made of a slick black stone.

This was his most resistant one. The alloy that composed this cauldron included materials from the most fire-resistant magical beasts in the world. It wouldn't melt even if it's thrown inside an active volcano.

"Engorgio!" James cast the enlarging spell on the cauldron, increasing its size five times over.

He had to make himself an improvised platform beside the cauldron so he could begin to work.

"Okay… let's begin." James' amber eyes became completely focused and gained a soft shine as he concentrated his magic.

"𐎥𐎨𐎱𐎤 (Fire)." A dark crimson flame manifested beneath the cauldron.

Vapor began to escape the surface of its metallic surface as all the moisture evaporated away.

Once the cauldron had reached the appropriate temperature, James began to put the ingredients inside.

The first one he threw in was the liquid silver he had just acquired.

The metallic substance moved across the bottom of the cauldron as if it were trying to escape the heat.

James' hands moved quickly. One hand was putting more ingredients in at the perfect timing while the other one held his wand. Using a spoon to stir the contents was out of the question with something this large, so he had to make clever use of the 'Mobiliarbus' charm to move everything around.

As he continued to add components, the silvery substance continued to change.

Finally, James only had one ingredient left to use. It was a tiny bottle containing a red liquid inside.

He opened the cork and three red drops fell into the cauldron.

"Phoenix blood… pure lifeforce. Let's hope that three drops will be enough. Thing thing is crazy expensive and hard to get even if you have the money."

As the drops of blood touched the surface of the silver liquid, it seemed to react.

With the materials perfectly combined, James removed the fire burning beneath the cauldron and began to chant in an ancient, dead tongue to bring this creature to life.

Magical runes appeared out of thin air and rotated around him and the cauldron.

A moment later, something stirred from within the cauldron.

James' eyes became narrow. "Did it work?"

All of a sudden, something burst out of the cauldron with tremendous force. As if it was a geyser, a column of silver liquid erupted from its container and flew into the air.

James was truly glad he had made this outside. Otherwise, he would have lost his portable lab and his room.

The silver liquid poured onto the grassy field, burning everything in its path while emitting strange sounds.

"Glacius!" He had almost forgotten that this creature doesn't like heat. But it was impossible to create it without it.

The mass of silver seemed to calm down when it was hit by James' freezing spell.

The quivering mass of liquid appeared to become more solid and converged into a much smaller blob.

"Hello there. Can you understand me?" James spoke to the creature ahead of him.

"Blub?" The blob turned around to follow the sound of his voice and tried to form sounds as well.

They came from a mouth that had just formed, and just after that, the creature created a pair of eyes so it could look at its creator.

"It worked!. It is alive and well. "James grinned. His experiment had been a success. "I think I'm going to call you… Tertivor."
