Chapter 188 - Warhammer: Lord of the Endless Monster Horde [188]

"What a truly perfect specimen! What is this thing? I've never seen anything like it before!

Did the human Emperor create it? It looks like some kind of bioweapon." Obsessive madness flashed in Trazyn the Infinite's eyes.

He'd long wanted a piece from the Emperor's personal collection—the best would be the Emperor himself, or at least his golden armor.

The Emperor was the master of humanity, the most important figure in all of human history.

His life trajectory spanned nearly all of mankind's history, playing a crucial role at every stage.

He led the Great Crusade and established the current Imperium of Man.

Back when the Emperor first set foot in the galaxy, Trazyn had already attempted to capture him.

But the Emperor was an immortal and the most powerful psyker, with overwhelming power. Trazyn's first attempts ended in failure.

Since the Emperor ascended the Golden Throne, Trazyn had all but given up on capturing him.

But today, unexpectedly, he saw these two beings—gigantic creatures identical to the Emperor.

His scanners showed that these two were not Warp entities, unlike Living Saints.

Even if you captured a Living Saint, she could abandon her flesh and soul at any moment, returning to the Warp to be remade by the Emperor.

But these two existed in the real physical universe—if captured, they could be sealed completely and displayed in his private gallery.

These two Emperor-like bioweapons possessed unimaginable power, not inferior to the Emperor himself when he walked the Earth.

Originally, he'd come to help humanity, maybe even capture Abaddon the Despoiler if possible. But now, he'd found something even more collectible: Avatars of the Emperor.

"Lord Trazyn! Thank you for your previous help, but now the great Emperor's reinforcements have arrived.

We humans will surely win this war!" said a Tech-priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus, standing before the metallic skeleton.

Though he spoke politely, his face showed clear disgust at the Necron.

This metal skeleton suddenly appeared, claiming to help them fight Chaos.

He'd said he could activate the Blackstone Matrix here since such ancient devices were made by his race long ago.

If not for the threat of Chaos, the Tech-priest would never have accepted Xenos's help!

These xenos, officially known as Necrons, were metallic skeletons—enemies of humanity.

"Ah! What are those things called? The two glowing golden ones outside?" Trazyn asked.

"They are miracles of our great human Emperor! Since you helped us before—

Xenos, leave this place at once!

I'll let you leave safely, be grateful for my mercy," the Tech-priest replied.

If he weren't outmatched, he'd have loved to kill this Xenos then and there.

Trazyn had supported humanity earlier, releasing some less important Imperial relics to gain their trust:

Several Astra Militarum regiments, a company of Ultramarines from the 13th Legion in the Great Crusade, an army led by the demon-hunting Inquisitor Greyfax from centuries ago, and most precious: a Custodian collected during the Horus Heresy.

These relics were meant to be expendable, but thanks to the arrival of the Emperor's avatars, they'd all survived.

"Leave? No, no! This is the most exciting moment, I'm not going anywhere," said Trazyn.

"Xenos, what is your purpose?" the Tech-priest asked.

"Heh! You could just be a filler for my exhibit, as the lowest-grade specimen," Trazyn said dismissively, waving his hand.

A flash of green light—he activated a stasis device. The Tech-priest was frozen in time, still standing.

Trazyn took out a miniature matrix cube and stored the Tech-priest inside.

Meanwhile, the human armies outside were celebrating, as if victory was certain.

The Chaos legions were strong, but before the two Emperor avatars, they were nothing.

Trazyn produced some special devices and activated them one by one.

Suddenly, some Chaos Space Marines he'd captured appeared inside the Supreme Castellan's fortress.

Unaware of what had happened, they were immediately attacked by the fortress guards—

everyone assumed they were Abaddon's strike force, sent for a decapitation attack.

Though confused, the Chaos Marines naturally fought back.

A battle erupted in the human command center.

A hundred Chaos Marines were a formidable force, and there were few guards in the Castellan's residence.

Most Sisters of Battle, Space Marines, and Astra Militarum had rushed out to pursue the broken Chaos host with the Emperor's avatars.

The avatars soared like giant angels, illuminating all of Cadia.

The Chaos horde paled in comparison.

"Help! Help! The Castellan is under attack! Chaos forces have launched a strike against the Castellan!"

Just as the humans celebrated, shrill alarms sounded in some guards' comms.

The commanders in the rear having been attacked, part of the human forces—among them Space Marines and Sisters of Battle—rushed back to defend.

Trazyn released even more relics—a horde of Orks, and even Tyranids suddenly appeared, attacking the human defenders.

Watching the Space Marines and Sisters rush to the defense, Trazyn smiled faintly.

"Well then! Now, how should I secure these two big guys for my collection? I'll need something special."

Taking advantage of the chaos, Trazyn produced some high-tech devices.

Normal relics wouldn't work against such giant lifeforms.

He'd seen their power before—but as a Necron, he had trump cards, black-tech beyond human comprehension.

He produced a black cube, quickly covering the battlefield.

Not long ago, while exploring his tomb world and scanning the galaxy for new curiosities, he'd found gigantic monsters and advanced robots on a distant planet—sparking his collector's instincts.

But just as he was about to claim them, a huge black monster appeared, using powers that even Necron tech couldn't counter, forcing him to retreat.

He tried again several times but was always driven off by the psychic black beast.

Only recently, hearing of great events on Cadia, did he come.

This device was originally intended for that alien world's black monster, but now, it would be perfect for capturing the golden Emperor avatars.

The black cube emitted a pulse, freezing time across the battlefield.

Even space itself seemed locked.

Chaos and Imperial forces alike, as well as Trazyn's released Tyranids and Orks, were frozen in place.

The two gigantic avatars of the Emperor were immobilized.

"You two really shouldn't have shown up here. Anywhere else, and I might not have managed, but here we have my people's Blackstone obelisks."

Trazyn smirked, activating the Blackstone obelisks near Cadia.

A strange force field spread from the Blackstone chambers, weakening the local Warp influence.

Many daemons were suddenly sapped of power, some were even banished back to the Warp.

Saint Celestine, who had been flying, shining with gold, suddenly crashed to the ground.

The terrifying black wave cut off Warp power—the Emperor avatars lost their psychic supply.

Their onslaught halted.

"Hahaha! They're mine now!"

Trazyn excitedly produced his collector's cube, preparing to shrink the two golden giants and store them.

First, he activated the time-stasis device, then a spatial compression device to restrict the golden giants' movements.

He activated the Blackstone matrix to cut off the Warp, minimizing its influence and ensuring the flawless capture of the Emperor avatars.

Meanwhile, in orbit, Abaddon the Despoiler noticed the developments below.

The two Emperor avatars, who had been thrashing his forces, were suddenly enveloped in black light and ceased moving.

"Transmit my orders! Crash the Blackstone Fortress into Cadia! I want this fortress world destroyed, every Blackstone matrix obliterated!"

Abaddon grinned savagely.

He would not miss this once-in-an-age opportunity!

"No! Evil xenos, you dare ambush the Emperor's avatars?"

"Damn xenos!"

"Stop right there!"

Black Templars, Space Wolves, Sisters of Battle, and even the just-freed Custodian Guards, all charged at Trazyn in fury.
