It's been a full week since the incident of Ethneal. There were many newspaper spread around, and that was all the people talked about for days. It seemed like such an event would have never happened yet it did. Many people were scared that this was a revolution. Others thought that it was the start of something much worse.
Daniel is sitting inside the building of Amir, and he has finally gotten a newspaper. Him and Amir are shocked, and exited after reading the paper. It seems that this had opened an opportunity for the both of them, and they both look at each other.
Daniel folds the newspaper and smiles brightly, what he is smiling for is a different reason entirely. He and Amir are both sadden that this had killed many people, but it had something else that gave them hope.
From what Daniel heard, it was the most published story yet. Many publishers made it spread fast as soon as they were given the authority to do so. It was so shocking that many publishers would rerelease the news even if only slight new information was available.
"Daniel you don't understand how lucky we are to get ahold of this. I don't know how the Lurkers managed to get this since the distance from here to that district is huge. They had to travel to a whole different district, that's at best only a week and a half away from here." Amir says as he grabs the newspaper with excitement.
Daniel can't believe it either as the person they were interested in showed promises. The results were more than he had ever expected, and he was glad that they were exceeded. This is a miracle to them, and now they can really begin their plan.
"Amir I remember when Ashly told me she had a reliable friend. His name is Lucas and I did believe her as she was strong. I just didn't know how reliable he was, but this is solid proof." Daniel says.
They both have never been so confident in their plans until now. "Daniel I'm glad you found us some future allies, you're truly something." Amir says as he pats Daniel's back.
Their big plan in the most simple term is to eliminate the Irond Deadlock for good. Not only that, but if something else goes their way they could also target the Lurkers.
"We are in luck as Ashly told me she hated the Iron Deadlock. She will gladly take part in trying to eliminate them even if she doesn't want to make any alliances. What we need to do is to convince her, she doesn't seem like the friendliest person out there." Daniel says as he begins to think of a way to welcome her.
"Daniel this was gift wrapped up, and send to us, we can't mess it up. Let's be more rational and patient, think of ways that we can get them on our side. The excitement within me is causing me to not think straight." Amir says as he begins to pace around the room.
"Daniel I want you to be honest when I ask this, are we overreacting at this moment? What if we are overthinking it, and we aren't sure if our plan might actually work? Luck can only bring us so far, and everything is unpredictable." Amir asks him.
Daniel smiles and hugs Amir. "Of course we aren't overreacting, this will work Amir. The newspaper shows us our results, and I've seen what Ashly can do." Daniel says.
"Yeah you're right Daniel, we need to start finding them. Do you know where we can find them or close to?" Amir asks.
….
"Wait! I just realized how terrible this is Daniel, this news has been spread around quickly." Amir says and Daniel isn't getting what he is saying. "That means that the gang, the one she ran away from must have an idea to where she is." Amir says.
Daniel then finally gets the message. "You're right, so we have to find them now before they do so. Luckily we are on the edge of the territory, we can find them faster if we are lucky." Daniel's says.
"Listen I don't know if we received the news before they did. The Lurkers knew for a little while, but at the same time, why would the Iron Deadlocks look at the news? We can't guess what others are thinking as they are their own being." Amir says.
"Listen I'll go travel to Ethneal or close by to check if they are still there. I know if you go they wouldn't accept as she doesn't know you. I had only spent a small time with her, but that will make the biggest difference. I'm our only shot for them to agree. I only spoke to you, but she might hesitate." Daniel says as he began to grab his bag.
"Well in that case I guess it's time for me to go to the Zoryem. I don't like them at all, but they are the only third party that are crazy enough to help us. Their numbers is the only thing I want, and I think they can negotiate." Amir says.
"Be careful then, those people are unpredictable, and it's scary. I doubt that they will listen to you, but no one knows much about them." Daniel says with his voice sounding worried.
"Daniel if we manage to get them on our side the Iron Deadlocks won't go after you. I doubt they are stupid enough to try to fight another group of people like that. It's more so risky when they, and the Lurkers have high tensions." Amir says and then he looks around.
Amir then grabs a key, and he walks up to the windows and covers them. He walks to the back door, and Daniel follows him, Amir then locks the door. They both wait for a while, and as soon as they are sure no one is nearby they begin to speak again as this is important
"Daniel the Lurkers, they don't don't like you at all. I think they are growing tired of you staying here for so long." Amir says his voice barely above a whisper.
"Well yeah after a bit I started to notice how they would look at me differently. I fear that one day they would take me, and turn me In. They might do it to ease some tensions which on some nights leaves me restless." Daniel says as he begins to sweat a bit.
"Exactly Daniel, we are going to risk it all now or never. They told me you're only causing them future trouble, and that's all that they see from you. At first they accepted you as you gave them information, but ever since you stopped you haven't even useful to them." Amir says.
"Listen I'm…I'm sorry for causing trouble Amir, I just don't know what to do." Daniel says as he looks around.
"Daniel that's nonsense, you are my close friend I wouldn't abandon you for that. I was nervous at first as I figured we had limited time, but now with this, we don't have to worry anymore." Amir says with a smile. "I know what I said earlier, but for now we are taking chances so we can pull this off."
"Stay safe out there Daniel, I don't know what might be out there. I will try to get that weird group on our side, and I won't stop until I do so." Amir says as he patted Daniel's back.
"We have to make the Iron Deadlocks go on the loosing side, we need their help." Daniel says as he punishes packing his things.
"Daniel I want you to not return to this place for a while, I doubt the Lurkers are patient. I think they might kill you if you don't go." Amir says.
"Well we should go now, we can't waste any more time. I hope that after this you will be set free, I'm sorry that this happens." Daniel said as Amir unlocked the door.
Daniel then begins to think about that one day, it was when Amir saved his life. The Lurkers were going to kill him, but Amir offered to work for them as a way to own up for Daniel's actions. Amir was a smart man so they accepted his offer immediately as his life was theirs.
Of course Daniel was turned into their spy, their most risky position as to have him repay his mistake. Amir is the reason as to why the business that Amir worked for was turned into a secret territory for the Lurkers. Amir has no freedom, and if he tries to run away he would be hunted down.
"Daniel I know you're sad and all, but it's fine, we had no choice. It was the only way for you to survive, and I made my decision. We can only try to fix it from here on out, that's why we must do our best." Amir says as he leaves to go to the Zoryem. Daniel gets on his horse, and he is going to find Ashly and Lucas.
