I put my hands over my face. Deep down, I knew she was wrong—all packs get attacked from time to time—but knowing that didn't make her allegation hurt any less. As an Alpha, my job is to protect my pack members. As a father, my job is to protect my son. Whether the enemies were successful or not, they got close. Too close. And that is my fault.
