CHAPTER 14

MOTHER'S LIKE DAUGHTER, MOTHER'S TRAGEDY IS DAUGHTER CALAMITY

The event people have been waiting for is celebrating the oldest family in Apollon, the Oskar family. Tonight is the night I am one of the guests. I have planned what I have to do when I arrive at the party; I will not have fun like last time. Moreover, the guests who are my age are not exactly invited, only Mr. Oskar's partner's kids.

"I have told you…" Zygmunt says from behind, touching my waist gently and resting his face on my head, "this gift…" he says breathly as he glides on my right thigh, "you wear it only for me." and then he turns my body around to see my face,

"If I will be apart from you," I say as I touch his hard chest, "I want something saying that yours…" I look up, "as if you are with me,"

"Then you should wait for me to go to that party together," he says as he kisses my cheek, nose, and lips and down to my neck, caressing with his lips way lower to my lower belly, and kneels down on the carpet.

"You said you there's a place you need to be," I say lightly,

"I'll make it quick," he says,

"Don't worry," I say, removing the bath rope from the floor and revealing the long silver dress covering my legs. "No one sees your gift," I say teasingly.

He grabs my thighs firmly as he mesmerizes my appearance. "Now I don't want you to go for real," he says and gets up slowly, "Your beauty is insane, my baby—doll," he whispers and then kisses me properly on my lips, pressing gently but deeper as his tongue digs deep inside.

"Pick me up?" I say lightly after I pull the lips away,

He keeps kissing, "I'll meet you in front,"

I look at his silver, and my dress reflects in his eyes perfectly, "Promise?"

"Promise, my love," He devours me once again, "I'll be there waiting for you in no time." then I pull him to kiss one last time.

Once again, at the Athen castle, the Greek gods that haven't waited for my arrival in particular. Have no interest in having a business conversation. Just a guest that needed to be here because the Greek gods say so. And this will be the last time, as when the deity calls me once more, I won't enter their realm.

Let's say it's the last time calling for Oskar and Serafinne. Well, at least I need to know my mother's story first; dig deep and ditch. It's the plan.

The silver dress I picked up from my closet that I intentionally put inside, most in-depth, far away from my sight. I stored it for the last prom but decided to wear it today. It's not a prom; it's far way more important than just a school dance. It's an adult's announcement of their success, and the town needs to know. Moreover, my intuition told me I might not have a chance to go to prom in this dress or any dress. One more reason is that the silver dress reminds me of Zygmunt, and I want him to be close to me because attending this party as if I am walking into a fancy war zone; war isn't about just physical, perhaps it is if it means you have to control the muscle of the face; smiling and fake laugh.

I see the fancy guests holding champagne glasses, cheering, and having fun chatting about their progress and achievements. Some genuinely listen, some force their heads to nod, and some just drink and eat elegant macarons. I walk through the important guests I have met before, and one I have never realized lives in this town.

And then the green emerald gown shining through the hall with red perfect curled hair notices me far away. I can not run now since her eyes lock on me, and I have some questions in my head that need the answer.

"Hey," Suddenly, my eyes are taken away from the green lady. I turn to see the man beside me, "You look stunning, Letizia,"

I smile, "Good evening, Mr. Oskar," I greet back. "You look stunning yourself," I say,

"Hehe, well, I did my best." He says, "Silver is perfect on you." He compliments me nonstop.

"Thank you, Mr. Oskar, and congratulations on your new accomplishment." I smile,

"Thank you," another guest interrupts us and observes me. The beautiful lady here is Letizia Serafinne." Mr. Oskar introduces me to his friend.

"Nice to meet you, sir," I say,

"Nice to meet you as well, young lady," his glance surveys me again, but it's not a good way. "How come a beautiful lady like yours come to the party alone?"

I say nothing, only give him a real fake smile,

"She's the most important guest of our family, more than you," Mr. Oskar says,

"Hehe, oh really?" his friend smiles sneakily,

"Well, I'll show Miss Letizia around the hall, so excuse me," Mr. Oskar says gently, placing his hand on my back. I follow him.

"Is it alright? Mr. Oskar, I can find my way around. You have guests to greet." I say with concern.

"More than alright. I love to have a friend in this kind of crowd," he says with his intimidating smile in a soft way. I apologize for him," he says, and I shake my head lightly. Even Emily and I are stars tonight, but you always attract the crowd wherever you go," he pauses. It's not a good idea to let you stroll around alone in the middle of lions," he chuckles a little.

But he's the host, which does not even make me more of the target.

Then my eyes land on the blonde guy who appropriately dressed himself as a prince. His blue eyes gaze at me, on my dress, back to my face, and straight to my eyes. I notice that his leg is perfectly healed. Vik stands beside his father. I smile at him. Vik smiles me back and moves his lips slowly. 'you look amazing,'

I chuckle, and I notice Mr. Vanderbilt looking at us, and even more surprised when Mr. Oskar leads me somewhere else.

"Are you close with Paul's son?" Mr. Oskar asks,

"Um—not that close, Mr. Oskar," I say,

"I've heard you bidding for him too…the basket date," he says,

"Y-Yes," I stutter,

"Don't tell me you dumped my son for Paul's son." he teases,

"No, Mr. Oskar, that would never happen—me and Vik, no," I say,

"Hehe, I'm teasing you." he chuckles,

Mr. Oskar seems to be more relaxed and open than usual. His personality is pretty similar to Tytas's; he is charming and chills over the intimidating side.

I look at him. "Mr. Oskar, do you—" I pause and try to think before I speak. I have been thinking about what Mrs. Meride told me about him and my mother, that he was fond of my mother in a romantic way. But there's another question that I wanted to know for so long about him and Mr. Vanderbilt. They are indeed not just a best friend but also the greatest enemy, and why is that?

"Now you make me nervous," he says, "you called me and stopped," he pauses his walk.

I bite my lower lip, "I wonder for so long…about you and Mr. Vanderbilt," I pause as I look for his reaction. He looks at me and starts to curl his lips, "I'm sorry if I cross the line," I say,

"Not at all, Letizia," he says as he leans over; he's tall and taller than his son. "You asked, and I'll answer, but shall we go someplace more quiet?" he says,

I nod.
