Varek took the backseat for a moment while Kael took center stage.
"You want a turn now?" Magnus asked, flashing a smile at him.
Kael aimed low, but Magnus blocked with his two swords. Glass on metal.
He half expected his sword to break in half, but this glass had taken on the properties of a normal sword, just as he'd imagined it. Somehow, it still held up, and its edge was razor sharp.
The world flickered for a moment, and the next thing he knew, nearly twenty meters separated them.
Kael frowned. Had that one been his doing?
He charged forward, swinging his sword again. This time, he thought for sure the blow would land, but Magnus wasn't there anymore.
He was a meter to the left. No sound, no flash, no blur. He just disappeared from one spot and reappeared in the next. Like the Veil had edited the scene and re-inserted him into a new frame.
Kael blinked.
What the hell was that?
It reminded Kael of his own method, but the way it presented itself was different.
