Kael spun around as another burst of flames shot out from Vaelor's palm.
Hot flames licked at his clothes, but he managed to dodge it by just enough to avoid catching on fire.
Magnus raised a hand, and the shards rose up behind him.
The clear crystals now glowed bright red with heat, the air around them moving like a mirage.
They shot forward, and Kael formed a simple katana in his hands.
These shards weren't something he could block with a shield. That had yet to work out for him. They always seemed to break through.
Deflecting them would be the only way.
The shards traveled as fast as bullets, and Kael focused as they neared.
Time slowed down, and Kael blocked the first, which was coming directly at him. Sparks flashed as the hot crystal came into contact with the blade.
A second came. Blocked.
Six more, all from different directions.
Kael smacked each and every one of them out of the way, sending them spiraling off in a different direction.
