Kael and Varek charged forward, Vaelor's shards whistling toward them in the blink of an eye.
Using his newly formed sword, Kael knocked away two of them that were headed straight for his face.
A third one caught him in the side, but Kael ignored the pain. His wounds would heal. That was not any of his concern.
Kael sidestepped one final shard and closed in on Magnus.
The seven shards halted midair, then spun, reversed direction, and zipped back to Magnus.
With a wave of his hand, they melted into liquid light, along with his other sword.
The energy swirled around his arms before hardening into two slender, curved blades. He tested them by spinning them around in circles.
He rolled his shoulders, loosened his stance, and offered the smallest, coldest smile. "Let's not waste anymore time. I've got other matters to attend to."
Magnus moved at the speed of light, and before Kael could react, he was already next to them, raising his weapons.
