"Aren't I always by your side?" Peter asked.
Lucy hesitated. "I didn't mean that, I just..."
Before she could finish, she pushed Peter onto the sofa.
"This is all I want," she murmured.
Peter chuckled, then lifted her into his arms, gazing into her eyes.
"Peter..." Lucy was caught off guard. Her delicate face flushed red, making her look even more beautiful. Embarrassed, she struggled shyly, trying to break free.
"You started the fire, Lucy. Now you have to take responsibility."
Without waiting for a response, Peter kissed her deeply, and Lucy responded without hesitation.
At an Auto Repair Shop
"MD, I told you to get red spray paint! What the hell are you doing with neon green?!" V yelled, her voice filled with frustration. She glared at the half-painted car in front of her.
The mechanic scratched his head nervously.
"You'd better fix this," V threatened, "or I'll tear down your whole damn factory!"
That Night
"Ahh..."
Lucy lay on the bed, wrapped in Peter's arms, a satisfied smile on her face. Peter held her close, his fingers gently running through her soft hair.
"Why did you suddenly think of doing this?" Peter asked, his voice gentle as he stroked her cheek.
"I just wanted to feel closer to you."
Lucy clung to him like a child holding onto their favorite toy, unwilling to let go.
Peter smirked. "Do you think we've gotten closer now?"
She pouted and lightly punched his chest. "You know exactly what I mean, you jerk."
Peter laughed. "Alright, alright, I won't tease you anymore. V should be back soon. I'm getting hungry, too—I'll go make something to eat. You just rest, okay?"
Lucy tightened her grip around his waist, resting her head against his chest. "Let's go out for noodles when V gets back. Just the three of us."
"Sounds good." Peter smiled, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
Lucy tilted her head slightly. "Do you remember the first time we met?"
"Of course," Peter replied with a chuckle. "It was during that shipment job on the light rail. You were busy stealing chips from those corporate dogs."
She smirked. "Yeah, but back then, I wasn't even sure what I was doing. I didn't know anyone, and even if I sold those chips, I wouldn't have made much money. I was just... lost."
Lucy's voice softened. "Then that cyber maniac attacked me. If you hadn't shown up when you did, I would've been dead."
She shuddered slightly at the memory, then looked up at Peter. "I remember being so surprised... Someone actually risked their life to save a stranger in Night City?"
Peter shrugged. "I just did what I could."
Lucy narrowed her eyes at him. "Out of all the people there, you chose to save me first?"
Peter grinned. "Well, you're pretty. Can you blame me?"
She scoffed playfully. "At least you're honest."
Lucy had always been confident in her looks, though not arrogant about it. She knew she stood out in Night City—there were only a handful of women Peter admired as much as her.
"But," Peter continued, his expression softening, "I like you even more now."
Lucy raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And how many women have you said that to? Judy, V, and let's not forget Rebecca from Mann's team..."
Peter coughed awkwardly. "Uh... I can't help being popular?"
Lucy sighed dramatically. "Oh, poor me. Guess I just have to accept my fate, huh?"
She smiled, but her eyes turned serious. "Just promise me one thing, Peter. No matter what happens, don't ever abandon me."
Peter's heart ached at her words. He could see the fear in her eyes—fear of being left behind, of losing something important.
"What are you even saying?" He cupped her face gently. "I'd never leave you."
Lucy bit her lip. "You better not. I don't think I could handle it."
Peter pulled her into a tight embrace, kissing the top of her head. He never imagined that even in the cyberpunk world, a woman could still be so vulnerable when it came to love.
After another moment of warmth between them, they finally got up and dressed.
Peter gathered the sheets and tossed them into the washing machine before heading to the kitchen.
Lucy sat at the table, watching him cook with a soft smile.
V Returns
"Peter, you're back?" V walked in, looking at him curiously. "Did you go help Judy yesterday?"
"Yeah," Peter nodded. "Everything's settled, and we managed to rescue Evelyn. But... I don't know if she'll ever recover from what happened."
V sighed. "Those bastards got off too easy."
Peter glanced at her and smirked. "Trust me, their deaths weren't easy."
V shook her head. "Let's not talk about that. Hey, I saw a sports car parked downstairs. Yours?"
"Yeah, I picked it up from the Badlands," Peter replied.
V raised an eyebrow. "You planning to use it?"
Peter thought she wanted to borrow it, but V quickly waved her hand.
"Nah. I still prefer my Mizutani Hayabusa and our usual ride. Sports cars aren't really my thing."
Hearing her mention cars, V suddenly turned to Lucy.
"You don't have a car, do you?" she asked. "Peter, why don't you buy her one?"
Peter looked at Lucy, considering the idea. After all, he had just put her through a lot—giving her a gift seemed like a good idea.
Lucy, however, seemed indifferent. "I don't really like driving," she admitted. "But if you pick one for me, I'll love it."
Peter thought for a moment, then smirked.
"I think I know just the car for you."
Lucy tilted her head. "Oh? And what kind of car does Peter think suits me?"
"You'll see," Peter said with a grin.
Lucy rolled her eyes playfully. "Fine. Surprise me."
Peter chuckled. He had already made up his mind.
This gift was going to be perfect for her.
