"Wow, this little yellow dinosaur looks just like the one from Monster Card! It's so cute!" Zoe exclaimed as she stared at the Baby Dragon standing in front of her.
Seemingly noticing her adoring gaze, Baby Dragon turned its head and winked playfully at her.
"Wow! It's even cuter up close! Can I pet it?!"
Zoe was completely enchanted. Women have always been weak to cute creatures.
"Of course you can," Alex replied casually. "This is your summoned monster, so it will completely obey your commands."
Zoe rushed forward and hugged Baby Dragon tightly.
The adorable creature remained perfectly calm and obedient, letting Zoe squeeze, pet, and play with it to her heart's content.
"Alex, if you can design such cute creatures, why is Deep Sea Trek filled with terrifying monsters?!" Zoe pouted as she continued rubbing the dragon.
Alex shrugged. "I just follow the rules of nature. The deep sea is dark, so its creatures naturally evolve to be terrifying."
Zoe: …Silent disbelief.
"You call THAT an explanation?!"
She was about to complain when she noticed some numbers displayed on Baby Dragon's monster card:
Attack Power: 1200
Defense Power: 700
"Hey, Alex, what do these numbers mean?" she asked curiously.
"Each monster has its own attack and defense power," Alex explained. "The goal is to have monsters battle each other using different strategies."
"Wait… I can make them fight?"
"Exactly. Here, I'll show you an example."
Alex drew a card from his deck.
"Come forth—Obelisk the Tormentor!!!"
He slammed the card onto the duel disk.
A Giant Appears!
BOOM!!!
The sky darkened instantly, swirling with ominous thunderclouds.
A powerful roar of thunder echoed across the battlefield.
Then, a massive spatial distortion appeared in front of Alex, shaking the ground violently.
BOOM!
A colossal, blue-skinned warrioremerged from the void, its sheer size and presence shaking the entire battlefield.
Obelisk the Tormentor—60 meters tall, built like a mountain, with muscles harder than steel and a monstrous, demonic face.
The ground cracked beneath its weight, and even the ocean waves were sent rippling outward from the force of its arrival.
Standing in Obelisk's massive shadow, Zoe and Baby Dragon looked incredibly tiny.
Zoe's eyes widened in terror as she stared up at the towering giant.
Her adorable Baby Dragon looked like a helpless ant in comparison.
Then, she saw Obelisk's stats:
Attack Power: 4000
Defense Power: 4000
"WHAT?! ALEX, YOU CALL THIS A 'LITTLE MONSTER'?!" Zoe shrieked.
"How is my dragon so tiny while YOUR monster looks like a literal GOD?!"
"Because I designed the game," Alex said matter-of-factly. "I can do whatever I want."
Zoe: …Speechless.
She had no comeback for that.
The Battle Begins… And Zoe Runs for Her Life
Alex smirked. "Alright, let's begin. Obelisk the Tormentor—attack Baby Dragon!!!"
"WHAT?! WAIT, NO—!!!"
Realizing what was about to happen, Zoe panicked.
She dropped Baby Dragon like a hot potato and sprinted away as fast as she could.
Meanwhile, Baby Dragon just stood there trembling, too weak and helpless to do anything.
ROAAAAAR!!!
Obelisk let out a deafening battle cry and raised its gigantic fist, the sheer force of its movement creating a powerful shockwave.
Even the waves of the ocean were pushed back by its strength.
Then—
BOOM!!!
The massive fist smashed down onto Baby Dragon.
"AHHHHH!!!"
The tiny creature let out one final squeak before it was completely obliterated.
"YES!!! That was AWESOME!" Alex cheered, pumping his fist in excitement.
"I've always dreamed of playing Yu-Gi-Oh! in real life… And now it's finally happening!"
This was his childhood dream coming true.
Even though it seemed a bit childish, Alex firmly believed in what the great Lu Xun once said:
"A man remains a boy at heart until the day he dies."
And today, he fully embraced his inner child.
Meanwhile… Zoe Is Still Running Away
Splash!
Instead of running on land, Zoe jumped straight into the ocean and kept swimming away.
Alex: …Really?
"She's played Deep Sea Trek for so long that her instinct is to run INTO the water instead of away from it!"
He sighed and turned to Obelisk.
"Alright, go grab my sister."
The massive blue giant took a step forward, then reached down into the ocean.
"Noooo, don't grab me!!!" Zoe screamed as she desperately paddled away.
But there was no escape.
With a single massive hand, Obelisk plucked her out of the water like a tiny fish.
Zoe struggled wildly in its grip.
"PUT ME DOWN!!!"
"Relax," Alex said calmly. "It's just a game, and it's MY game. What are you even afraid of?"
Zoe: …Still panicking.
