Half an hour had passed, and when the clock struck midnight, the starry night sky began to change.
The white crescent moon glowed brilliantly overhead. Then, as if responding to an unseen call, it began to rain down shimmering white crystals.
Oddly, the crystals didn't behave like meteors. Despite falling from the sky, they retained a slow, graceful descent—untouched by gravity's force or friction's flame. It was as though some invisible force shielded them.
From Ainsworth's vantage point, he counted around twenty streaks of light descending toward different parts of the city. Judging by the pattern, he suspected this celestial phenomenon wasn't limited to just one place. Other cities were likely witnessing the same event… and receiving these mysterious moon crystals as well.
To confirm, Ainsworth communicated with his believers from the Church of Evolution. The Church of Evolution was located in a different city quite far away from this one.
