Chapter 212 - Chapter 103: Facing the Basilisk

The instant Tom was struck by Hermione's Petrifying Curse, his form hesitated and then began to disintegrate from the bottom up. He said nothing, merely casting a sinister smile and a vicious gaze at the two sneaky cowards before him.

The ground began to tremble violently, and Glenn and Hermione quickly steadied themselves. In Glenn's perception, it seemed as if some magic had been lifted, revealing a rather spacious area underground at their location.

"That must be the hidden Chamber of Secrets. It's coming..."

"The Basilisk."

Everything was within Glenn's expectations. She had slightly weakened the binding effect on Tom's diary, allowing him to escape at a cost, to give him a false sense of hope, thereby further depleting Tom's soul energy and also luring the Basilisk out of the Chamber of Secrets.

Rather than venturing into unfamiliar territory to battle an opponent, it was certainly more advantageous to lure them into a space where preparations had been made.

"Hermione." Glenn took out her black silk from the black ring and looked at Hermione. "Just like we planned."

The young girl nodded, and Glenn placed the black silk on Hermione.

This was a necessary precaution to prevent Hermione from accidentally making eye contact with the Basilisk during the upcoming battle.

As for how the two would see... that was a simple matter.

"Sensory Sharing." The two clasped hands and simultaneously chanted the spell. Then Glenn released her hand and flashed ten meters ahead of Hermione, to the place where the tremor was most pronounced, while Hermione stood still, her arm slightly raised.

If someone could see the flow of magic in the air at this moment, they would notice a faint magical link connecting Glenn and Hermione.

After extensive research and development on magical circuits and spells, Glenn successfully optimized the prerequisite of physical contact for the Sensory Sharing spell. Now, even if the two affected by the spell were separated by a certain distance, it could still take effect.

Although the closer the distance, the better the effect of Sensory Sharing, and the farther the distance, the less clear the shared senses become, Glenn and Hermione explored the optimal distance together. Currently, the optimal length for this distance is within ten meters around the subject of Sensory Sharing.

Though the refinement of this spell is still somewhat crude, and its effect is certainly not as good as direct contact, it is sufficient for the current situation.

"Heightened Perception." Glenn closed her eyes, maintaining her heightened perception continuously. Although now she could use the Magic Eye, a spell capable of obstructing or even annihilating magic, theoretically allowing her to cast this spell to briefly meet the Basilisk's deadly yellow eye, even causing backlash.

But since she could achieve her goal steadily, why choose a riskier method?

With a wave of her hand, Glenn casually tossed the small black box floating in front of her to a predetermined position and began to cast enhancement spells on herself.

But only enhancement spells; after amplifying her physical abilities, Glenn put away her wand. When facing the Basilisk, a creature with extremely high magic resistance, offensive spells were useless.

Glenn stomped the ground, and massive information surged towards her like a tide, washing over her mind.

But Glenn remained unmoved, and almost instantly, she picked out the information she needed.

The sound of stone scraping had ceased, and the sound of scales rubbing against the ground had begun.

A huge serpentine creature slowly crawled across the liquid-filled, damp ground, gradually approaching her position.

And in front of Glenn lay the girls' bathroom sink.

"Is this the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets?"

"Still can't see anything."

Glenn's strength and experience were still inadequate. Even now, after Tom summoned the Basilisk, the hidden magic of the Chamber of Secrets failed, allowing Glenn to discover the Chamber concealed deep underground. But because Tom's energy was insufficient to support him in opening the Chamber door with Parseltongue, the secret magic attached to the entrance was still in effect, preventing her from finding any clues on the sink.

But this did not stop Glenn from delivering a substantial welcome gift to the incoming Basilisk.

The Basilisk only received those two commands from Tom, but due to its own intelligence, it continued to crawl toward the exit at a leisurely pace, which Glenn did not anticipate.

This gave her extra time to lay down additional measures.

Taking out many alchemically improved adhesive explosives with her left hand, Glenn quickly adhered them to the sink and nearby ground.

Her actions did not cease; Glenn continued to scatter alchemical materials from the black ring onto the surrounding ground.

Increasingly noticeable tremors began to emanate from the ground, and even Hermione could clearly feel them.

Perhaps it was because of the proximity, the familiar scent, the human scent of the one who caused it to lose an eye, the Basilisk's movement speed suddenly increased, its massive body colliding with the passage, creating quite a commotion.

Glenn's perception remained locked on the Basilisk's form, but at a certain moment, the Basilisk's information disappeared from her heightened perception range.

That was the hidden magic set at the Chamber entrance.

Nevertheless, this did not affect Glenn's ability to judge when the Basilisk would reach the surface based on its distance and speed before disappearing.

"Hermione, get ready." Glenn issued the command, and Hermione's gaze became resolute, her lowered arm raised, her wand pointed directly at Glenn's side, her spell ready to be unleashed.

In the next second, without warning, the sink in front of Glenn was violently struck by the beast, shattering with a loud crash. An invisible barrier appeared in front of Glenn, blocking the flying debris.

At the same time, she detonated the explosives.

"Boom!"

The Basilisk, having just smashed through the Chamber exit and exposed its head, was immediately hit by a fierce explosion, the shockwave temporarily numbing its senses, and its head became severely wounded.

Before the Basilisk could roar in anger and pain, a cold female voice calmly sounded in its muddled perception.

And the voice it heard was a peculiar language the Basilisk had never heard before.

"Veil of Night."
