Chapter 126 - Chapter 126

Ever since the incident where McDonagh was harmed by Snape's roommate, the Potter quartet seemed convinced that Evans would abandon Snape as a friend, and their frequency of finding trouble and humiliating him increased.

Sometimes, in the Slytherin common room, Lys would hear people in Snape's small group teasing him about being abandoned by Lily Evans.

It was a group that upheld blood purity and, to some extent, supported the Dark Lord's rhetoric. They had previously invited Lys, but she refused.

Who knows what Snape did, but gradually no one mentioned it anymore.

Until Friday night, when Snape sent Potter to the hospital wing. He had cast a spell on Potter's toenails, causing them to grow uncontrollably.

The excessive conversion of energy and matter caused Potter to faint on his way to the infirmary.

Many people saw him with those disgusting, dangling toenails.

Lys only wanted to know what Snape was thinking. Such excellent magical talent, and he used it to grow someone else's toenails?

That day, Lys was walking half-awake with a book in her arms after class. The History of Magic class... was practically a sanctuary for catching up on sleep for Lys, who had stayed up late.

She was walking slowly and once again stumbled upon a scene where Snape was cornered. Lys widened her eyes and thought to herself: I told Snape to get another wand, why didn't he listen?

The marauding quartet had cornered Snape in the crowd, his books and wand knocked to the side.

It was clearly Potter's doing; he was quick and targeted the weak spots.

They repeated the usual rhetoric about dark wizards being sinister and mocked Snape for his shabby clothes.

"Is your greasy big nose dripping snot into your mouth? Don't worry, we'll help you wash it!"

They deliberately fired spells crookedly at Snape, preventing him from retrieving his wand to stop the effects of the magic on himself.

As for the bubble-blowing 'Scourgify' in Snape's mouth, it was probably Potter's doing. How should I put it, anyone close to Evans was targeted by him.

And wasn't Snape proud? Didn't he embarrass himself? Now, surrounded by a crowd of onlookers, Potter wanted to see how Snape could remain proud under such retaliatory attacks.

Lys stood at the edge of the crowd with her book, not intending to intervene. She couldn't manage it anyway. Sometimes it was these guys who started it, sometimes it was Snape's sarcastic remarks. In any case, this kind of thing happened every few days.

And this kind of conflict wasn't limited to Snape; the Gryffindor group even bullied Hufflepuff students.

As long as they wanted to, even if a Puffskein passed by, they would want to pluck some fur for fun.

Even the Gryffindor prefects no longer bothered with these matters.

And Snape? Lys didn't think he was much better. Just look at those people in his little group...

Lys yawned behind her book, and in that blink of an eye, a "Expelliarmus" disarmed her wand.

Clearly, this was premeditated, as Peter immediately followed up with a "Accio Wand" to take Lys's wand.

They believed that even if Lys could use such powerful magic, without a wand, what was she?

They were all fourth-year students. You might have more magical power than me, you might know more spells than me, but without a wand, you couldn't possibly beat me!

Unfortunately, in the moment the wand left her hand, Lys let go of the book in her left hand, allowing it to fall to the ground, and quickly swung her right hand down to grab the tip of the willow wand tied to her arm, casting two Shield Charms on herself.

However, before the spell took effect, two Petrificus Totalus hit Lys's left arm.

The cloak and shirt sleeve on that part shattered due to the impact of Lys's protective badge and the attacking Petrifying Charms.

Lys's left arm was exposed to everyone in the corridor, stiff from the unexpected attack.

What kind of arm was this...

So thin that it was only half the thickness of a normal person's arm, frighteningly twisted and deformed bones in the forearm, with hardly a straight segment.

From the wrist to near the elbow, it was almost entirely pitted with missing skin and flesh, and the barely smooth areas were raised with red scars.

Compared to the fair skin on the upper arm and the pale, slender hand, the middle section's deformity was almost terrifying and disgusting, with the elongated stone bracelet making the thinness even more pronounced.

Lys frantically tried to hide it inside the other half of her cloak, but the stiffness from the Petrifying Charm only eased slightly after two spells were dispelled.

Lys's magic couldn't keep up with her consciousness amidst the chaos!

Seeing the difficult-to-hide arm, Lys let out a sharp scream, something she hadn't dared to look at for years, her nightmare!

How dare they!

How dare they expose her arm to so many people!

Lys was pulled back to reality by the screeching on her right shoulder, covering her arm with a black mist drawn from her wand.

"How dare you... how dare you... Sirius Black!!"

That Disarming Charm came from that mad dog, and so did the Petrifying Charm!

A cloak was thrown over her, covering her left arm, the heavy scent of wormwood suppressing Lys's tears.

Listening to Snape's muffled bubble-blowing reminder, "Stop screaming! Fight back!"

Almost instantly, Lys cast two Protego Totalum over herself and Snape, while a nearby Slytherin picked up Snape's wand and threw it to him.

Lys staggered, almost falling from the impact of Potter's spell.

"Oh, rat skin, looks like you're missing a piece of skin, huh? What, are you going to use the only tattered robe of Snivellus to patch it up?" That stupid dog kept barking.

But Potter sensed a bit of danger. Somehow, Lys could still use magic. His mouth could continue to provoke, but his hands must not relax.

Potter and the other three's attacks became increasingly fierce.

Meanwhile, Lys kept checking that the cloak covered her arm while threatening the portraits in the corridor, "Go get a professor, anyone will do, hurry up, or I'll burn your portrait!"

Gabon shifted, pressing the two cloaks tightly beneath him to prevent them from falling suddenly.

Lys patted Gabon's head. She intended to properly greet that stupid dog, though not to kill him.

Lys, trembling, even wondered why she was so calm, having the presence of mind to weigh these things.

Snape had already begun to counter the spells, but with little effect, nearly losing his wand again, given there were four of them.

Lys pressed the tip of the short willow wand hidden in her palm to her lips, releasing a runic spell she had just translated last night—

"Obfuscate"

As for the spell's effect, it would depend on the opponent's luck and her ability.

The wand cast a pale green spell towards the quartet, and Lys layered two Confundus Charms on Black. Despite being a renegade, as a child of a top pure-blood family, he still carried top-notch magical protection.

Lys watched as Lupin and Peter spun in circles in the mist that filled half the corridor, losing their combat effectiveness.

And Sirius Black and Potter stood within a certain range, frowning.

"Potter is yours, make it quick," Lys said to Snape, then stepped into the spell's range.

Snape, surprised, looked at the spell in front of him, then raised his wand and stepped into its range.
