Chapter 229 - Chapter 229 : Hidden Secrets!

"Um?"

Sensing Finn's sudden move, Mara frowned.

Is this guy crazy?

In such a battered state, how dare he take the initiative to provoke me?

Doesn't he know that picking a fight now is the same as asking for death?

"You stupid human. Since you're seeking death, don't blame me for granting it!"

With a low growl, Mara's body swelled again, rapidly returning to its true form in a blink.

Overwhelming demonic energy surged around him like a tidal wave.

"So this is Mara's true form…" Finn narrowed his eyes, his expression turning solemn.

This version of Mara stood over ten meters tall, his entire body sheathed in shimmering purple-gold scales, radiating an oppressive, blood-soaked aura.

Thick, fleshy spines protruded from his neck like grotesque tendrils, each one twitching in the wind—unnervingly sentient.

Boom boom boom!

Mara roared in fury, his power skyrocketing as his aura came crashing down toward Finn like a collapsing mountain.

Finn didn't flinch, his face taut with focus. With a flick of his hand, arcane glyphs glowed, and he cast a high-tier Eldritch incantation.

Boom!!

He launched into the air, fists clenched with raw power, crashing down upon Mara with monstrous force.

BOOM!

His punch landed, and the ground beneath them trembled violently.

CRACK!

The bones along Mara's spine snapped audibly, and he staggered backward, barely managing to stay upright.

"What… how?!"

Mara's eyes widened in disbelief.

He was just a mortal… How can someone like him, so weak a moment ago, suddenly land a blow that strong?

"I am the apex predator!" Mara snarled internally. "This guy shouldn't even be able to scratch me!"

"Nothing is impossible. Now—go to hell!!"

Finn didn't waste time talking. With a feral yell, he charged again.

"Haha! So you were hiding your strength!" Mara bellowed with crazed laughter. "Good! That makes this all the more enjoyable! A human like you... you're WORTH devouring!"

BOOM!

Mara lunged forward, his body now cloaked in dense, writhing black mist. His speed surged, becoming a blur of destruction.

"Well done," Finn muttered, eyes gleaming with a battle-born fire. He met the assault head-on.

Bang bang bang!

A furious series of blows echoed through the forest. Shockwaves erupted as the two collided midair, neither pulling any punches.

Devastation followed in their wake. Trees shattered. Rocks exploded. The earth cracked.

Yet, in this violent clash, Finn began to fall into a defensive stance.

Mara's blows were brutal, relentless. Finn could barely keep up, and only his supernatural defense—augmented by mystic runes tattooed into his very skin—kept him on his feet.

Damn it! Mara growled inwardly. How is he resisting my strikes?!

He should've been crushed already. Any ordinary mortal would've been reduced to pulp.

"This ends NOW!"

With a guttural roar, Mara's body expanded again, swelling to nearly thirty feet in height. Intricate demonic glyphs etched themselves into his skin, pulsating with infernal energy.

His aura darkened, now monstrous and thick as a black hole.

"Human—DIE!"

Mara hurled his entire frame forward, his fists tearing through the fabric of the air itself. The force was apocalyptic.

"Hmph. Overconfident."

Finn's eyes flickered with contempt. He slipped past Mara's assault like mist in moonlight.

Swish!

He struck from the flank, then vanished.

A moment later, he materialized behind Mara.

BOOM!

His palm drove forward like a cannon, slamming into Mara's exposed spine.

PFFF!!

His hand pierced through flesh and bone. A burst of red exploded out the front of Mara's chest.

"You bastard!!" Mara roared in agony, frantically channeling his demonic essence to heal.

But before he could recover, Finn was on him again—this time from the right.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Fist after fist landed like meteors, each one bursting open flesh, exposing sinew and darkened bone. Mara's thick hide could no longer protect him.

"ARRRGHH!!"

Mara shrieked, shaking the mountains with his fury.

"I WILL TEAR YOU APART!"

"Mara Ascendant!"

As his voice echoed, the demonic air around them twisted, gathering into hundreds of writhing black serpents. They launched at Finn with terrifying speed, fangs bared, eyes glowing red.

These weren't just energy constructs. They were sentient demonic parasites—each capable of feeding on spiritual essence.

Finn's expression didn't change.

With a flash of silver, the Sword of Weishan manifested in his grip—gleaming with the mystic light of the Vishanti.

SWISH!

He twirled the blade, drawing gleaming arcs through the air. Every swing cleaved through a dozen serpents, reducing them to shimmering stardust.

He flourished the blade, pointing it straight at Mara.

"You die."

BOOM!!!

His arm trembled as he drove mystic power into the sword. Thunder cracked across the skies, and flame-laced clouds burst forth from the blade—fire clouds drawn from the Faltine Plane itself.

Their heat was absolute. Wherever they touched, the ground boiled, melting into streams of glowing magma.

"AAAHHH!!"

Mara howled as his scales scorched, curling up like burnt parchment. White smoke billowed from his skin.

Sssssssss!

"Damn you, disgusting human!!"

Sweat streamed from his demonic frame. Though the fire couldn't fully destroy him, the pain was excruciating.

"Your agony's only beginning," Finn muttered coldly.

Mara bared his teeth in a savage grin.

"You may have the Vishanti's blade, but you're still just a mortal. You can't kill me!"

"Who said I need to defeat you with the sword?"

Finn grinned wickedly and slammed the Sword of Weishan into the earth.

CLANG!

Then, with both hands free, he clenched his fists. Energy coiled through his veins like liquid lightning.

He stepped forward once.

The mountain quaked.

His muscles surged, bulging with arcane might and latent rage. Steel-hard, mystically-reinforced sinew burst from his arms as he leapt.

His right leg swung forward like a spear—honed, merciless.

Mara's grin vanished. He hadn't expected Finn to abandon his sword and rush in for close quarters.

This was demon territory—raw, physical domination. It was supposed to be his battlefield.

BOOM!!

The two collided again.

This time, it was Mara who went flying, sent crashing into a hillside, his enormous frame skidding like a boulder.

Finn didn't pursue.

He stood his ground, breath labored, sweat dripping from his brow.

"Damn it," he muttered, brow furrowed. "This guy's vitality is insane. How is he still standing?"

The last strike had taken a massive chunk of his stamina.

"You've already lost," Mara sneered from the crater, body mangled but still twitching with energy.

With a snarl, he twisted his frame and launched a whip kick—a final, vicious strike—straight for Finn's skull.
