The Village Beside the Wall
Four Days Ago, Inside the Orphanage House
After Limti told Kalira and Torrance about the 100 gold coins.
Kalira: This is impossible! How are we supposed to get 100 gold coins? That's an enormous amount.
Limti: This is the only way with that greedy merchant. He's the only one who can secretly get your friend out of there.
Kalira: But where are we supposed to get 100 gold coins from?
Torrance: I think you've forgotten who's here with you.
Kalira & Limti together: What? Do you have 100 gold coins with you?
Torrance: Not exactly that I have them, but I do have a lot of gold. Maybe we can sell it and get that amount.
Limti: And where is this gold you're talking about?
Torrance: It's in my nest.
Kalira: But your nest is near the city of Darkis.
Limti: Darkis? Well, it's not far from here. If you go now, you can reach it before sunset. But Kalira, you can't walk properly, and Torrance, you're in bad shape too.
Torrance: Well, if we rest today and go tomorrow, how many days will we have left?
Limti: Well, a day would have passed. We'd have six days left to reach the capital. If we go to Darkis, then leave from there without any rest and head straight to the capital, we'll arrive in four days. And if we take a carriage, we'll get there in two.
Kalira: Fine, as you wish. We'll go to Darkis tomorrow.
(Kalira stands up with difficulty and walks slowly.)
Limti: Don't overexert yourself.
Kalira: It's okay, I just want to get out for a bit.
(Kalira slowly leaves the room and quietly closes the door behind her.)
Limti: What's wrong with her? Why did she go quiet when we mentioned Darkis?
Torrance: I don't know much about that, but I think she was born there. You know about that city, full of bandits, and it hasn't healed from the scars of war yet, since it was the closest city to the Wall.
Limti: I think we brought back bad memories for her.
Torrance: Don't worry, she's a strong girl. I think she inherited that from her grandfather.
Limti: Her grandfather? Does he also live in Darkis?
Torrance: Yes, he's an old man, but he's alright.
Limti: What's his name?
Torrance: I don't remember, I think it was Thores? Or Tares? I'm not sure.
Limti: Could it be Tares?
Torrance: Yes, something like that. Do you know him?
Limti: How could I not know him! Wait, is there anyone who doesn't know him? He's one of the four royal knights of the former king. I heard a rumor that he still lives in Darkis, but I thought it was just a rumor.
Torrance: Maybe it's just a coincidence in names.
Limti: I have to go now, I'll bring you something to eat later. I'm going now.
(Limti gets up quickly and leaves the room.)
Torrance: (talking to himself) What's her problem too?
Outside the House
A garden full of beautiful flowers, the scent of roses everywhere, a lovely breeze, and soft sunlight. Kalira sits among the flowers, looking up. Lim watches her, standing by the house door.
(The sound of a door opening from behind.)
Lim turns back: Is that you?
Limti: What are you doing here? (She looks towards the small garden and sees Kalira sitting) Are you watching her? Or do you like her?
Lim: (in a calm voice) Shut up… She really looks like her.
Limti: You still remember her. Didn't I tell you to forget her and live your life again?
Lim: I tried so hard to do that. I try not to remember her, but I can't. And also, when I saw this girl for the first time, I thought she was her.
(Limti gently holds Lim's hand.)
Limti: Lim, you saw her with your own eyes. She's dead, she's not coming back. You have to let life go on, don't trap yourself in the past, move forward.
(Lim looks away.)
Lim: Thank you, also for not giving up on me.
Limti: (lightly hits him on the head) You idiot, if I gave up on you, I don't know what you'd do to yourself. Also, I still need your muscles.
Lim: I'm sorry.
Limti: Why are you apologizing? It's not your fault. Everything that happened was destined, it wasn't in your hands. Anyway, I just heard something crazy.
Lim: What is it?
Limti: Do you know the city of Darkis, where we came from two weeks ago?
Lim: Yes, that stinky city.
Limti: It seems that Kalira comes from there too.
Lim: What's the problem with that?
Limti: Let me finish, you idiot. Do you know the famous Tares from Darkis?
Lim: Yes, of course, I know him. He was one of the best knights a thousand years ago. They say he was stronger than the king himself. What's wrong with him?
Limti: Well, I just heard that this girl's grandfather's name is Tares, and he also lives in Darkis. Don't you think there's something strange about that?
Lim: Are you sure about this?
Limti: That's what the bird told me. And also, I don't think the bird lies.
Lim: Maybe it's just a coincidence in names and his presence there, right?
Limti: I don't know, but I think it's not a coincidence.
Lim: Is this an excuse to follow the girl or what?
Limti: No, you idiot, maybe he knows how to solve your problem.
Lim: Are you sure? We've been wandering together for 40 years now, but we haven't found any cure or solution to this problem. Are you sure he has it?
Limti: I'm not sure, but he had the same illness before becoming a knight. Since he became a knight, I think he overcame that illness. Don't you agree with me?
Lim: Well, these are all just assumptions from you. And also, his existence is just an assumption from you.
Limti: Are you going or not?
Lim: Fine, it seems we don't have another choice now. And also, we're done with our work here. Fine, I'll go.
Limti: Good, we'll move in the morning.
To be continued…
