Half a dozen heavily armed drones exploded, setting the sky ablaze near the ships filled with agents, like deadly fireworks. Bewildered by the incident, the pilots of the silent helicopters were unable to react when huge branches struck the reinforced hulls, destabilizing their flights.
Two of the ships were pushed forcefully to the sides, lost control, and crashed — a fact confirmed by distant explosions and the orange glow of flames escaping through the vegetation. Of the two remaining helicopters, one was pierced several times by reinforced branches, which pierced men and metal as if they were pudding, causing another large explosion in the sky. While the other helicopter was enveloped in an embrace of killer branches, which completely wrapped around it and crushed it like a soda can, causing the last explosion of the night.
Of course, some men even tried to shoot at the people on the ground, but the conditions were not favorable for accurate shots. In addition, Sete made a point of protecting the heirs with nearby plants, so that only one shot grazed her waist.
"It looks like a fireworks show…" — The System seemed enchanted in a somewhat sordid way. — "Some of them are escaping by parachute..." — He commented disappointedly, but Sete could feel a smile forming on Vez's invisible face when a fragment from the explosion hit a soldier's parachute and set the canvas on fire, leaving the man to plummet helplessly.
— It's almost like a vegan kraken… — Lillia whispered, watching in astonishment as the wooden tentacles returned to their original position and stopped moving. — Scary...
Everyone slowly got up and stood still for a while, watching the destruction caused by Sete... A deity was a deity after all, even without having fully regained her powers.
— Simply terrifying… — Reed whispered in shock, brushing the dirt off his knees after standing up, his eyes fixed on the flames around him. — Remind me never to hug a tree, they seem to like it too much.
— Yeah… — Hiroshi muttered with pursed lips, turning his attention to Spring. — It looks like A.L.O. really has to join her...
Under the thoughtful gaze of the older man, Thomas and Bianca supported Sete, each on one side of the young deity. She exhausted her strength with this bold and rebellious move, but recovered partially after receiving the rewards from the emergency mission. However, even though the wound was not fatal, her waist was still bleeding profusely.
— We'd better keep moving, they'll send reinforcements when they realize they've lost contact with this squad. — Ethan suggested seriously. Sete and Hiroshi agreed with a nod.
— Let's go. — Spring called out, still staggering, leaning part of her weight on Bianca and Thomas while pressing her waist wound with one hand. Her pale lips betrayed how badly she was coping with the pain. — We'll have to rest later.
— Let me take care of that… — Lillia suggested after noticing the bloody stain spreading across Sete's clothes, some of the viscous red liquid dripping between her dirt-stained fingers.
Approaching the young deity, the blonde girl bent down to get a better look at the wound. She removed the blood-soaked fabric from the front of the cut with one hand and gently covered it with the other. A faint white glow emanated from the area, and when Lillia moved her hands, there was no sign of injury or pain on Sete's fair skin, the only remnant of what had happened being the blood around it.
— Now we can go. — Sete smiled slightly, feeling much better without the discomfort of pain. Being human was much harder than it seemed. — Thank you.
With their faces smeared with soot, the group exchanged a series of smiles and knowing glances as they quickly gathered their things. As soon as they were done, they set off into the night with Reed and his fire powers lighting the way.
