Daniel rushed Stephanie back to the study on the first floor. There was a hidden entrance that led down to the basement.
"Stephanie, go inside. You'll find the basement at the end of the hallway. Stay there and don't come out."
After saying that, Daniel quickly shoved Stephanie into the narrow passage.
Stephanie reached out to grab Daniel's hand, wanting him to come inside with her. But when she turned around, someone burst into the study.
Daniel didn't have time to shut the door. Instead, he threw himself in front of the entrance to shield it.
The intruders started to fire their guns. Daniel could have dodged it, but he took the shot so he could close the door.
