May 4th, Greenery Day.
It's also a public holiday.
The morning sunlight slanted onto the white feather bed, Uesugi Sakura put on the gold-rimmed glasses from the nightstand, changed into casual wear in front of the wardrobe, and went downstairs.
"Sakura, come here, hold your sister first."
Under her mother's repeated urging, Uesugi Sakura took over her only 3-month-old sister.
The little girl's hands were curled, wrapped in a pink swaddle, with a face showing the unique baby fat, and arms that were a bit plump.
Mrs. Uesugi went off to do the laundry.
The baby, who loved to sleep, was still sleeping despite having slept all night.
Uesugi Sakura couldn't resist pinching her cheek but didn't expect that pinch to wake her up, causing her to cry.
"Mom, has she been fed?"
Hearing the baby's cries, Mrs. Uesugi quickly came out from the laundry room, shaking the water off her hands.
"Let me see, let me see."
Uesugi Sakura had no choice but to hand over his sister.
