It was time for the tough decision—to transfer power to my brother.
I had called the meeting of the Board of Directors. My resignation was ready, all printed and neatly placed in a file to be handed over.
Rahsir was already here and today we would take the vote to elect the next CEO.
Arata held an electric blue tie in her hands. Lifting the collar of my shirt, she expertly placed it around my neck and began to tie the knot. Her soft blue eyes found mine. "You good?"
My lips flattened slightly before I offered a nod. Unconvinced she looped the long fabric, tying the knot and pulling, adjusting it around my throat like a noose.
Damn! I hated ties.
Pushing the collar down, she smoothed it and brushed my shoulders. She leaned in and pressed her cheek into my chest.
"It's alright to be sad about this. You don't have to be always strong." My arms wrapped around her, pulling her into me. Hugging her always felt like being submerged in a sea of calmness.
