Greg was sitting at the edge, his head bowed, his arms wrapped tightly around Cammy. His face buried in the crook of her neck as though holding her was the only thing keeping him from falling apart. His broad shoulders trembled slightly, betraying the storm inside him.
Cammy's hand gently stroked his back, her fingers threading through his hair in soothing motions. She whispered something too soft to hear, but the tenderness in her tone painted the air with warmth.
Felicity froze at the doorway, her breath catching in her throat.
She hadn't seen her son in so long—not like this. She had missed so many moments, so many birthdays, victories, heartbreaks, recoveries. And now here he was… full-grown, broken, strong, vulnerable, all at once. In love. Desperate. Changed.
